The presidential campaign of the All Progressive Congress, APC, continued yesterday in Sokoto, as the the party's presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari touched down in Sokoto State. He created a large groundswell of genuine emotion as the crowd gathered at the Trade Fair Complex in their thousands to watch him declare his candidacy.

Prof Yemi Osinbajo, the vice presidential candidate, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal and national chairman of the party, Chief John Oyegun were on the campain team.

They were joined by the incumbent Governor of Sokoto, Alhaji Aliyu Wammako, to pay a courtesy visit to the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa'ad Abubakar III, who gladly received the entourage.

The delegation then proceeded to the Trade Fair Complex where the rally held.

Speaking on the personality of the party's candidate, Oyegun said, "Buhari means security...he will run a government that respects every Nigerian, for which every Nigerian life is held sacred - where our girls, daughters and mothers lives are important to him."

Chants of Sai Mai Gaskiya! (by the truthful one we stand) filled the air when Buhari took to the stage to address the enthusiastic crowd, who at last got their chance to hear him speak.

An invigorated Buhari reaffirmed his commitment to provide security, improve education, wipe out corruption and stabilise the economy in order to improve the standard of living of Nigerians if duly elected as president in the 14 February general election.
