Aspen, Colorado, man Charles Abbott was in court accused of violating a protection order involving his former roommate, Michael Stranahan. Abbott was alleged to have entered Mr Stranahan's room while he was out of town and retrieved some belongings.</div>

Taking his seat in court on Tuesday, Abbott sat a fuzzy horned owl on the defence table with him, telling the court its name was Solomon and it would be representing him in court, the <a href="http://www.aspentimes.com/news/16415230-113/aspen-defendant-enlists-stuffed-animal-as-his-attorney"><b>Aspen Times</b></a> reports.</div>

<b>The Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee has expelled a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief Kunle Kalejaye, from further practising as a lawyer.</b></div>

The LPDC disbarred ‎Kalejaye after finding him guilty of professional misconduct by a five-man panel of the LPDC, led by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
‎The LPDC found Kalejaye guilty of misconduct while representing the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, at the Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, where Oyinlola's victory in the 2007 poll was being challenged, by the then candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Mr. Rauf Aregbesola.</div>

Kalejaye was said to have engaged in "confidential, private and confidential telephone conversation" with the Chairman of the Osun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal, Justice Thomas Naron,‎ without the knowledge of the other party.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
‎He allegedly engaged in the "unprofessional act" between March and June 2008 and Justice Naron, with whom he committed the misconduct, had since on February 20, 2013 been compulsorily retired by the National Judicial Council.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Presiding Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ekiti Division, Justice Paul Galinje, who read the directive (judgment of the LPDC), held that the prosecution, the Nigerian Bar Association, proved its three-count complaint against Kalejaye.</div>

The NBA was represented by Jibrin Okutepa (SAN).</div>

He held that Kalejaiye violated the provisions of sections 1, 15, 30, 31, 34 and 55 of the Rules of Professional Conduct for Legal Practitioners (2007).</div>

The panel directed the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court to delete his name from the roll (list) of legal practitioners in the country.</div>

The committee also directed that its decision should be served on the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, the Chief Judges of all the states of the federation, the Chief Judge of Federal High Court, Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, the Inspector General of Police and all states’ Commissioners of Police.</div>

<b>A teenage girl seen abusing and punching a boy in a video that went viral has been sentenced to eight months in a young offenders' institution.</b></div>

The two-minute video, which has been viewed more than 2.7million times on Facebook, shows a girl with blonde pigtails and in school uniform grabbing a much larger boy by his sweatshirt and hurling abuse at him before punching him in the face.</div>

The girl, 14, admitted assault today at Croydon Youth Court. She wept and hugged her parents as she was sentenced to eight months for breaching a youth rehabilitation order imposed on 8 March for grievous bodily harm and witness intimidation, plus four months for the assault.</div>

"This was an extremely unpleasant assault on a vulnerable 14-year-old who did not seek to respond in any way", said magistrate Ken Ashken.</div>

"In these circumstances, despite your young age and the undoubtedly good sides that you have within you, we consider that the offence is so serious, in regards to your previous offending, that a custodial sentence is justifiable".</div>

In the footage, she can be heard asking the boy, "Are you gonna get your cousin?" before saying, "Your cousin can’t do dirt on me – you understand?"</div>

She then threatens the boy, saying, "Don't p*** me off or I will have you on the floor, you understand?"</div>

The video, which was posted to the Young Rich Britain Facebook page, prompted hundreds of comments, many of which praised the boy for not retaliating and mocked the girl’s street language.</div>

<b>The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Transition Committee, Ahmed Joda, has accused the Federal Government transition committee, headed by Vice President Namadi Sambo, of starving the APC transition team of information to work with.</b></div>

Joda explained that the committee had to rely on its own initiative to cover the grounds it had so far been able to cover.</div>

The committee chairman said this while submitting the committee's interim report to President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, at the Defence House, Abuja, on Thursday.</div>

He added that the committee prepared and presented its interim report without any impute from the President Goodluck Jonathan-led administration.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Joda however said his committee was hopeful that the Jonathan committee would make a presentation to it on Friday (tomorrow).</div>

The committee chairman, who led other members to the Defence House, said when they eventually got the input from the Jonathan team, it would be built into the final report to be submitted to Buhari after the inauguration.</div>

The chairman also complained about the shortage of time as well as manpower because of the enormity of the work involved.</div>

Buhari on his part lamented that despite his best of intentions, the Jonathan-led administration misunderstood the activities of the Joda-led transition committee.</div>

He expressed disappointment that the outgoing administration refused to provide the committee the information it needed to carry out its duty.</div>

The President-elect said: "It is not that we are preparing for indictment. We are trying to get a starting point, where exactly are we going to start from.</div>

The statement read: "The attention of the Anambra State Government has been drawn to a false and malicious report circulating on social media over the purported closure by the Nigerian Police of a restaurant selling human flesh in Anambra State.</div>

"This story, as reprehensible and false as it is, was also published by a national daily, which has since retracted it and apologised, having found it to be untrue.</div>

<b>A teenager, Rachael John; and a nine-year-old girl, Joy Atunramu, have been arrested by men of Ogun State Police Command for allegedly kidnapping their neighbour's nine-month-old baby.</b></div>

The suspects were arrested on Wednesday by detectives attached to Ilese Police Division, Ijebu Ode.</div>

The baby was said to have been lured away from the mother's shop at Old Toll gate area of the town by Joy, allegedly acting on the instruction of Rachael.</div>

According to a report by <b>The PUNCH</b>, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the police swung into action after the mother of the baby rushed to the police station to lodge a complain about the incident.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, said Rachael was later arrested with the baby at Ogbere in the Ijebu area.</div>

The police spokesman said: "It was gathered that the suspect had  a conflict with the mother of the baby  before the baby was stolen. She vowed, via a written letter,  to deal with the mother of the baby.</div>

"Though initially, the mother did not know who actually stole the baby, neighbours and some eyewitnesses, who saw the suspect with the baby intimated the mother and the police detectives with the information before the arrest of the suspects.</div>

<b>The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, said on Thursday that the party will not use the principle of zoning to compromise the quality of leadership for the National Assembly.</b></div>

Speaking with journalists at the Defence House, Abuja, the ex-Lagos State governor said the party has decided to allow all those interested in the leadership of the National Assembly to contest, dismissing insinuations about his interest in who leads the legislature.</div>

Tinubu said: "You have heard from the party, you have heard from leadership.  I'm a disciplined party man and we will look at it critically.</div>

"However the nation is expecting us to take a decisive leadership decision and make one meritoriously. Merit will not be compromised. You have to be competent, you have to possess the kind of character required from leaders. You have to be a pan-Nigerian and possess a very solid character to lead the National Assembly. That is what we are talking about. It's not zoning to compromise quality of leadership and competency of an individual.</div>
