clear: both;"><span style="color: #222222;"><br /></span></div><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;"><b>Delta panel</b></span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;"><b>TNN.ng</b> had earlier reported stories from hearings at some of the panel,  last week, there were more gory tales than before as petitioners recounted their grief-stricken ordeal before the panels.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;"><b>Lamentations at Lagos panel</b></span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">One of the petitioners that spoke before the panel this week was Hannah Olugbodi, a middle-age hairstylist, who was crippled by the police stray bullet.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Olugbodi, who appeared before the panel on crutches on Saturday, said the awful incident happened on June 6, 2018, when she was going to buy spices for her family dinner at the Ijesha market.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">She alleged that the SARS officers were after the boys, who were watching football at the Ogun City hotel, adding that she got hit by the bullet when the officers started shooting sporadically as the boys refused to settle them.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">“On one of those days, some boys were watching a football game when SARS arrived and accosted one of the boys who had tattoos.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">“When the SARS men couldn’t extort the boys, they started shooting at them as they ran into the Ijesha market and that’s how I was hit,” she narrated.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">She later spent six months at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), without any of the police officers coming to visit her.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Olugbodi, who appeared before the panel with a large pack of files full of hospital bills said she wants justice, noting that she had spent all she had to pay for surgery, ye she still can’t walk.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;"><b>TNN.ng</b> had earlier reported the case of one Alhaji Olatunji Usman who suffered police brutality in Kwara State to the extent that he is now partially blind as he cannot see clearly after being brutalised by the police over his alleged participation in the violence that occurred in Ojoku. As at the time of filing this report no one knows the whereabouts of his wife and children who were said to have run for their dear lives due to intimidation from the police after the alleged escape of Usman from police custody. </span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Another petitioner, who spoke at the Lagos panel, Adeyemo Rotimi, completely broke down in tears before the panel, as she narrated how her husband lost his life in the hands of police officers.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Rotimi said her husband was a LASTMA official who was shot on November 28, 2018, exactly two years ago.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">She said she received a call at exactly 10pm on that day, that her husband had been shot dead by a SARS officer, Olonode Olukunle.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">The panel admitted as evidence the photograph the husband soaked in his own blood.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">On Tuesday, the panel hearing continues.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;"><b>SARS bullet killed my 3-day old daughter, man tells Rivers panel</b></span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">“We woke up in the morning of August 15, 2014, to observe that one of the bullets from SARS operatives who were shooting from the night of August 14, 2014, penetrated my roof and killed my only daughter, a three-day-old baby.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">“I picked the bullet on August 15 morning and went to SARS office and but was stopped at the entrance of the office by operatives who ordered me to turn back or join my dead daughter,” Sylvanus narrated.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Another petitioner, Lucky Eze, demanded  a compensation of N20million and footing of his medical bills from the Nigeria Police for causing damages to his right ear.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">Eze, who was a supervisor in a Filling Station in Ahoada Town, said he started having hearing problem with a hole in his inner ear after he was slapped by policemen who invaded his place of work on January 28, 2018.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">He said: “I came here to seek for justice for brutality and wickedness did to me by the Police on January 28, 2018. I have been having hearing problem since then. I have five medical reports from five medical doctors of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) confirming that the slap created a hole in my right ear.</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">“I am here to seek justice for two reasons; one is to be able to continue with my treatment which I abandoned due to lack of funds. I didn’t deliberately abandon my treatment; I did so because there was no money. Secondly, I am seeking justice for the brutality they meted on me. I ask this panel that I be compensated with the sum of N20milliion.”</span></p><p style="background-color: #f8f8f8; box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px 0px 17px;"><span style="color: #222222;">The panel headed by Hon. Justice Chukwunenye Uriri (Rtd), however, promised to conclude hearing on all the 171 petitions before it on December 30.</span></p></div>

Violence erupted yesterday in the Gberigbe area of Ikorodu community, Lagos when
some hoodlums numbering about 30 attacked the home of a suspected homosexual.

  According to an eyewitness who pleaded anonymity, the hoodlums who came on
  motorcycles and minivans were armed with dangerous weapons including locally
  made guns and machetes. The target of the attack, according to our source, was
  a man who lives in the community and was accused of being gay.

  The man whose identity could not be immediately verified as at the time of
  filing this report was said to have been caught having sex with another man of
  northern origin at a hotel (names withheld) in the neighboring street. Local
  security men were said to have raced to the hotel after being tipped off by an
  unnamed person with information on the forbidden act. Upon their arrest, the
  suspects were reportedly handed over to the police for further investigation
  and prosecution.

  However, information was said to have reached the youths in the community that
  the suspects have been released by the police after five days in detention.
  This, our source said, angered the local security men who arrested the
  suspects initially before they were handed over to the police. It was gathered
  that the aggrieved youths mobilized and headed to the residence of one of the
  suspects who resides in the community.

  "It was as if a war has broken out", said our source while narrating the sad
  event to our correspondent. "Everyone ran to safety because we didn't know
  what was happening. Gunshots were fired sporadically that at a point I thought
  it was cultists that have invaded our community. But when they started shouting the name of Alhaji<b> </b>Moshood<b> </b>(the suspected gay), my mind became relaxed"
  explained our source.

  It was reported that the suspect popularly known within the community as Alhaji Moshood was the
  target of the attack. However, mother luck was on his side as neither him nor
  any member of his family was at home. "In annoyance that they did not meet him
  at home, the hoodlums vandalized the house and destroyed many items within
  their sights in the man's compound", our source continued.

  According to our source, the hoodlums came with an intention to kill the
  suspect as they kept calling on him to surrender himself to them. They were
  reported to have accused the police of bias and said if the police could not
  do justice, they would take the law into their hands and do the necessary
  justice.

  Our findings further revealed that the other man said to have been caught and
  arrested with Alhaji Moshood has since his release by the police returned to the
  northern city where he came from while the whereabouts of Alhaji Moshood and his
  family members remain unknown.

  It should be noted that same sex relationship is a criminal offence in Nigeria
  in particular, and most African countries in general.

A video depicting the Katsina Governor, Ibrahim Shema, prodding his party members to physically assault and possibly “kill” opposition politicians in the state, has gone viral on the internet.<br />

The amateur video was first posted on the internet on November 12.<br />

It shows the governor, dressed in white agbada and brown sandals, standing on a red carpet, and addressing a crowd in what seemed like a political rally. He spoke in Hausa.<br />

Mr. Shema likened opposition politicians to “cockroaches” before asking the crowd what to do if they found the nocturnal insect in their apartments.<br />

The crowd chorused “Kill them!”<br />

“Crush them!” the governor responded, agreeing with the crowd.<br />

Similar calls have triggered violence in other countries including the East African country, Rwanda, where the majority Hutus’ description of the minority Tutsis as “cockroaches”, helped fired a 100-day murderous campaign that saw over 800,000 Tutsis killed.<br />

Mr. Shema is a second term governor and a member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<br />

In 2011, he fought hard to secure a second term after the state’s main opposition then, the defunct Congress for Political Change, CPC, expanded rapidly and gained influence in the northwest state. CPC is now part of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC.<br />

Katsina State is also the home state of Muhammadu Buhari, a leader of the opposition APC and a contender for the APC presidential ticket for the 2015 election.<br />
<br /></div>

Katsina has a relatively minimal history of violence, although the state has been noted by election observers for a significant incidence of underage voting in previous elections.<br />

The video which has drawn stringent backlash online ended with the governor emphatically asking his fans to reprise any attack from the opposition.<br />

“Before now people from the opposition will humiliate us in the PDP and we will say don’t do anything about it. But now I am telling you to fight back and ‘quote me’,” the governor emphasized.<br />

Mr. Shema could not be reached for comments on the story. His aide, Sani Malumfashi, a Special Adviser on media, said he was away and is only expected back on ‎Saturday.<br />
