One of the comments I have seen consistently, over and over again, is ‘Stella snatches somebody’s husband’, ‘Stella the husband snatcher’, which is what has been going on. And I had sworn that I would never talk about it, or even listen or stress myself about this thing but I have decided to do this now, so that I end this once and for all.   </div>

"First of all, let me paint a picture for you and you let me know what makes sense to you. When I looked up the word snatch or steal, ehh, let’s go to the dictionary. It means, forcefully taking something away from its original position. Forcefully. From its original position to another position. Something that does not belong to you. That’s what I gathered from the word snatch or steal.</div>

"So I looked at me, Stella, and I wondered to myself, how is it possible to go to somebody’s home, and take a man, and take his son, away from his home and say follow me. You are a man, and according to their story, he is happily married inside his home. With his family complete and I walk into that home, to forcefully take a man, abled bodied man, and a kid, away from somebody’s hand and you are there looking at me. How does that work?</div>

"So when you see a man who has settled ties with a woman and decides to move on with his life and you feel that there is something in this man that you like and he likes you. I am not a kid. I am 36 years old. I am not about to start hiding myself. I was waiting for somebody to actually ask me this question, because all I have heard for the past two, three years are rumours. They said, blogs said, this said. Nobody has been bold enough to confront me and ask me. So I say, if I steal something from somebody, and the person is really the owner of the thing, you come and ask me, ‘you took something from me, give me back’.</div>

"After my late husband’s death, I got married again and the marriage didn’t work. After eight (8) months, it crashed. People didn’t hear much about it, why? We were both mature to understand that we came together, we knew that the thing was not working, instead of us to become enemies we will remain friends, let’s just let it go quietly. And we let it go quietly. I didn’t blame anybody else for doing it, he didn’t blame anybody else for doing it. So I am wondering, two people come together they go their separate ways, this one meets somebody, all of a sudden, it is that somebody that is the problem. Did anybody ever ask, what went wrong? Why would a man pick up his son and walk away from his marriage?</div>

<b>A marathon meeting by the leaders of the All Progressives Congress ended in the early hours of Tuesday(today) without a consensus on the running mate for the party’s presidential candidate, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari.</b></div>

Unlike the national convention/ primary which produced Buhari on Thursday without much rancour, the meeting which started at about 10:30pm on Monday and ended at about 1:58am on Tuesday was said to have been characterised by intense horse-trading.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Different caucuses of the APC had started a series of meetings which culminated in a larger one that had all the party’s governors and leaders in attendance.</div>

The National leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, did not attend the enlarged caucus meeting.</div>

Before the enlarged meeting which held at the Rivers State Governor’s Lodge in Asokoro, Abuja, rose, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar and Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha had left.</div>

They did not return as of 12:50am when Buhari and some other participants, including seven governors, started filing out of the lodge.</div>

Although the reason for their action could not be ascertained, <i>The PUNCH</i> learnt that the National Working Committee of the party would ratify one of the shortlisted vice-presidential aspirants on Tuesday.</div>

The aspirants being considered are Governors Rotimi Amaechi (Rivers), Babatunde Fashola (Lagos), Adams Oshiomhole (Edo) and a former Lagos State Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Yemi Osibajo.</div>

Others whose names came up were former governors Dr. Kayode Fayemi (Ekit State), former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola (Osun State) and former governor Adeniyi Adebayo (Ekiti State)</div>

A seven-member committee headed by Chief Tony Momoh was set up to prune down the number of aspirants. It has representatives from each zone of the country.</div>

They include Chief Bisi Akande (South-West), Senator Chris Ngige (South-East), Senator Danjuma Goje (North-East), Chief Audu Ogbe (North-Central), Chief Sam Jaja (South-South) and Governor Yari Abubakar (North-West).</div>

The enlarged meeting will reconvene by 12pm today.</div>

It was gathered that Abubakar, Okorocha, Kwankwaso and Nda-Isiah would lend their voices to the choice of the vice-presidential candidate. This would be followed up by input from Buhari.</div>

One of the governors, who attended the meeting said, “We are still meeting. It is not as easy as you see it. We are still meeting.”</div>

He explained that the NWC which would meet on Tuesday (today) was expected to “ratify whoever is picked if there’s a stalemate tonight(Monday). “</div>

Earlier on Monday, another top ranking member of the APC privy to the meeting said, “The meeting is going on now to draw up the general principles of (the) choice.</div>

“It has been agreed that no Muslim-Muslim ticket. The choice is also not restricted to the South-West; any zone in the South could produce our candidate’s running mate.”</div>

<b>Those eager to get copies of <i>“My Watch”</i>, the three-volume memoirs of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, will have to wait for longer as the author has “confiscated” the printed copies until a court order is vacated. </b></div>

An Abuja high court had on December 5 issued an order that the book should not be published or promoted following a motion on notice filed by Kashamu Buruji, who complained that he was libelled in the publication. </div>

But Obasanjo went ahead with the public presentation and Justice Valentine Ashi, in ruling that the former head of state was guilty of contempt, directed the Inspector General of Police, Director-General of State Security Service and Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Services to confiscate the book. </div>

He also ordered that copies be seized from media houses, apparently to prevent the publication of excerpts. </div>

For allegedly being stubborn, 10-year-old Aliyu Rabiu, has been sent to his early grave by his father.</div>

The father, 43-year-old Rabiu Yusuf, a resident of Maina Maji in Alkaleri Local Government Area of Bauchi State, told journalists, on Monday, at the Bauchi State Police Command headquarters, in Bauchi, while being paraded alongside other suspects by the police, that he tortured the boy to death due to his stubbornness.</div>

Yusuf, who said he never knew his action would lead to the boy’s death, stated that he got infuriated with the deceased, following his running away from his house to stay with his mother, who he had divorced.</div>

According to him, he had severally instructed the boy to return home but he refused, saying he had to go and take him home and chained him inside a room so that he would not run away.</div>

“I called Aliyu several times to come back home because I want him to be in my custody as his father, but he refused, so I went to the mother’s home in annoyance and brought him back home.</div>

“When I brought him back to my house, I chained him and locked him up inside the room, so that he did not escape and go back to his mother, but unfortunately he died,” Yusuf said.</div>

Addressing journalists, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state police command, Haruna Mohammed, informed that Yusuf conspired with one Ismail Idris to kill the deceased.</div>

According to the police spokesman, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Yusuf chained and detained the boy for a period of 10 days, but he later fell sick as a result of the ill-treatment meted to him by his father. Baba, as he’s fondly called made this shocking revelation in his controversial autobiography entitled <i>‘My Watch’</i>, which was released on 8 December, 2014.</div>

Obasanjo wrote thus, “After the internment, I decided to look into the circumstances of her death.</div>

Reacting to the rumour that Stella’s death may have been a “sacrifice” he carried out for success in his job, the former president said: “Before the verdict in Spain, I was unaware of what I came to hear later that I might have caused the death of my wife to sacrifice her for success in my job.</div>

“That is how wicked and satanic some Nigerians can be in their rumours and mischief.</div>
