<b>Some months back, <i>Nollywood</i> actress, Fathia Balogun, released a statement which stated that the ex-wife of popular actor, Saidi Balogun, has finally dropped the actor’s name and would now be addressed as Fathia Williams.</b></div>

Saidi Balogun and Fathia were married for more than ten years with two children before the couple decided to part ways with neither party speaking on what was responsible for the separation. They both insisted that they have not divorced but only separated.</div>

The couple had since moved on with their lives after the supposed separation, with Saidi Balogun rumoured to have remarried secretly, while Fathia on the other hand is yet to remarry and was said to have adopted Williams due to a court injunction.</div>

Saidi had approached a court in Lagos to stop Fathia from answering Balogun since they are no longer married couple.</div>

A hot argument ensued between Fathia and the photographer, with Fathia saying "If I catch you snapping me because I am eating amala and ewedu, I will break your camera and destroy it", she threatened the photographer.</div>

The actress emerged TAMPAN’s Social Director and was presented a certificate of return, with her name boldly written as Fathia Balogun as against Williams, which she has been answering before then.</div>

<b>Ahead of the 2015 general elections, Vice President Mohammed Namadi Sambo has told the Independent National Electoral Commission that his Bachelors and Masters degrees certificates in Architecture from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, have been consumed by fire.</b></div>

Sambo, who is the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, made the declaration in the documents he filed with INEC and displayed on the commission’s office in Abuja although the details of the fire that consumed the certificates were not given.</div>

Sambo’s papers were received and stamped in INEC headquarters between December 10 and 18, 2014.</div>

The first letter, signed by one Alhassan Garba for the institution’s registrar under the title, “To Whom it may Concern: Mohammed Namani Sambo,” read:</div>

"I certify that the above-named person having completed an approved course of study and passed the prescribed examinations was awarded the Bachelor of Science (Architecture) with Second Class Honours (Lower Division) in 1976 by the Senate of this University. His original certificate got burnt. Please treat his case in view of this certification. Thank you."</blockquote>

Featuring duets with stars like Lil’ Wayne, he has a decent following in his area and looking to build upon that in the future. With songs on his album like <i>“No Safety”</i>, his content is what you would expect out of the typical, modern day rapper.</div>

However, Duncan was charged with attempted murder charges in court along with 14 other people. The charges are gang conspiracy in the murder of 9 people since April 2013.</div>

<b>IN NIGERIA’s commerical capital, Lagos, the candle-like minarets of the Central Mosque look out over streets and alleyways filled with a plethora of churches and cathedrals. Yet these two Abrahamic religions do not co-exist quite as peacefully in many other parts of Nigeria, which is about half Muslim and half Christian; bouts of violence have broken out periodically since the 1960s, mainly in the northern and central parts of the country, many of which are under Islamic law, or sharia (see map).</b></div>

With elections scheduled for February 2015, there are growing concerns that these long-standing rivalries may be brought closer to the boil. On December 11th Nigeria’s main opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), selected as its presidential candidate Muhammadu Buhari, a septuagenarian Muslim from the north. He will stand against the incumbent president, Goodluck Jonathan, a Christian southerner, just as he did in 2011. That campaign was among Nigeria’s bloodiest, with more than 800 people killed in sectarian fighting. Some worry that, with both parties playing up religion, there is now potential for even worse bloodshed.</div>

Mr Buhari was the military ruler of Nigeria between 1983 and 1985 before being himself overthrown in a subsequent coup. He has a reputation for incorruptibility and firm discipline (during his time as military ruler, civil servants who arrived late for work were forced to do squat-jumps). However many Christians, who predominate in the south, view his brand of Islam as too strident for their liking.</div>

Worries about the fair treatment of Christians have also been exacerbated by the situation in the northeast, where Boko Haram, a jihadist group, is trying to establish an Islamic state. Instability has killed more than 16,000 people. Many of the victims are Muslim, but the Islamists have also singled out Christians for murder or forced conversion to Islam.</div>

"Bad governance, inefficiency and corruption have stirred up religion to the point that it becomes a defining identity," says Matthew Kukah, a respected public intellectual and Bishop of the Diocese of Sokoto in northern Nigeria. "The worry is whether [Buhari] has the capacity to rein in the excesses of his supporters, a good number of whom may not possess the reflex for showing tolerance."</div>

Many Muslims, meanwhile, feel alienated by a president who has failed to narrow deep divides between the more prosperous south and impoverished north. He is also seen as partisan in representing a diverse nation, despite his appointment of a Muslim running mate. In October Mr Jonathan made a “private pilgrimage” to Jerusalem, where he was reported to have visited various Christian and Jewish holy sites but no Muslim ones. "Whether Goodluck likes to hear it or not, he is seen by most Muslim masses in Nigeria as the most pro-Christian president," Ahmad Gumi, a controversial Muslim cleric, wrote in an open letter earlier this year.</div>

Mr Buhari had thought of choosing a fellow Muslim as his running mate. Instead he picked Yemi Osinbajo, a lawyer and a senior Pastor in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. Mr Buhari has avoided an obvious provocation to Christians. Pray that good sense continues to prevail.</div>

"Mr Mleya opted to fulfil his third wife's conjugal rights but this backfired when he was stuck to her for the whole day. "The matter had to be referred to Chief Njelele to intervene. The chief had to calm tempers and urged people to first resolve the matter at hand and later discuss their family issues. His (Chief Njelele) intervention worked because the man was unlocked."</div>

Mr Mleya's third wife Siphiwe Ndlovu's brother, Robert, refused to comment on the matter but later said the issue was only meant to be discussed by family members and not the general public.</div>

"I don't want to comment on that. If the matter happened, then where do you benefit? Some of these issues are meant to be discussed by family members," he said.</div>

A Mr Mpofu, who reportedly "fenced" Siphiwe is said to have claimed that he had the right to do so as he had been taking care of her for the past three years. He said by "fencing" her, he was only protecting his "wife", which is common in the area.</div>

Dr David Akintayo Oguntuase was earlier <b><a href="http://nigerianewsroom.blogspot.com/2014/12/xmas-day-horror-as-doctor-burns-to.html">believed to have burnt to death in an inferno</a></b> which engulfed his hospital, the Universal Medical Clinic, in Akure.</div>

However, his family, through a statement released on Friday, December 26 by his brother Ben Oguntuase, has said David was shot, dismembered and then set ablaze along with the building.</div>

<i>On Christmas Eve, the Owo community in Ondo State was thrown into mourning as the assassins and arsonist murdered the Consultant Pediatrician/Head of Pediatrics, Federal Medical Centre Owo, Dr. David Akintayo Oguntuase and set his body ablaze leaving behind the most gory sight.</i></div>

<i>The picture of the burnt carcass is the tragic remains left behind by the assassins who obviously took their time to set the body ablaze after killing him. Evidently, they shot him in the main clinic area and carried his body to the room in the back area where they left him face down.</i></div>

<i>Not done, they severed his hands and legs before proceeding to douse the body with petrol. The rest of the building on the inside was sprinkled with petrol before it was all set ablaze. No doubt this was a most professional job that was obviously very carefully contracted and crafted.</i></div>

Some six weeks ago, on the trumped up, very false, baseless and malicious allegation by Dr. Olufemi Omotoso that David and some others in the FMC were planning to kill him, David was arrested by the Police in Owo where, upon investigation, the falsity of the allegation was established. We are aware that this same MD has been a regular guest of the ICPC and very recently, EFCC was granted leave to arrest and prosecute this same man.</i></div>

<b>Three brothers from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city, reportedly went insane after they squandered money, stolen from a Nigerian man, which had been brought by their brother from South Africa.</b></div>

It is alleged that the Matsika brother brought the loot of money from South Africa which he had stolen from a Nigerian businessman.</div>

A neighbour who spoke on condition of anonymity said: "One of the  brothers who was based in South Africa returned a few weeks ago. Simba, the one who stays at their house followed him and was given ZAR10,000 <i>(Ten Thousand South African Rand)</i>. I don't know how much the owner got.</div>

"When Simba returned, he told his friends about the money and was extremely happy. He was planning to invest the money, but unfortunately he became mentally challenged.
