Asari's wife took to her Facebook page, saying ignorant South-westerners have joined forces with the north to frustrate Jonathan's transformation agenda.</div>

She described the South-westerners ganging with the North as 'wicked and ignorant'.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mrs Dokubo, a supporter of Jonathan just like her husband, expressed optimism that Jonathan will win the February 14 presidential elections, putting all enemies of democracy to shame.</div>

The NDPVF leader while addressing a press conference in Abuja faulted the Abuja peace accord entered into by President Jonathan and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, General Mohammadu Buhari with 12 others, saying it was unnecessary.</div>

Going into memory lane, Asari recalled that the north has always had the penchant for causing election violence.</div>

"There is an established pattern of pre and post election violence in the north. In the 50s when late Awolowo was campaigning in the north, he went with helicopters and he was mocked. People said he was flying over the houses and peeping their wives. That has continued and everywhere in the country, people say leave them alone. We don’t want any trouble. But I think the game has changed. The rules of the game have changed.</div>

"For every action, there will be an opposite and equal reaction. I knew that the signing of the accord was useless and that the president subjected himself to sign such an accord. For me, it was out of place for a president and commander-in-chief of the armed forces of a country. But the president is a humble person. He does things that even marvel some of us and make us sometimes to be very angry.</div>

"To be frank, I was very angry on that day they were signing it. The president has sworn to protect the lives of every Nigerian. So, why would he, after taking a constitutional oath, subject himself to another oath?</div>

"My concern is what happens after the election because we know they will do what they are known to do every time. But this time, they will cry. Asari who was also the former President of Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, reiterated his stand on victory for president Jonathan, saying he would win the February polls.</div>

"There is no way Goodluck will not win the election. We will win them and we know they are preparing for violence in consonance with some foreign powers. When they do that, we will respond disproportionately. We will respond. That’s what we are going to do. If you hit me with a stick, I am going to hit you with iron. I am not speaking in riddles. I am speaking in plain language. My English may not be very good. I am speaking in my own street language. We are going to respond disproportionately and we are apologetic.</div>

"The people who are in Katsina who did not hold their children should also know that I will not hold my children", he said.</div>

Reminded that Buhari has repeatedly dissociated himself from violence, Asari said: "He is a liar. This is the same man who said that the blood of monkeys and baboons will flow on the street. He sounded a note of warning in clear terms. Who are the monkeys and the baboons? He has not explained to us. So, for him now to say whatever he says, that is his business. They burnt president Jonathan's campaign vehicles in Jos and they were singing "Sai Buhari oyoyo". Why is it that violence is always initiated by the people shouting his name?"</div>

He however said that there would not be violence unless the north "asks" for one.</div>

You are a man and I am a man. We are going to look at each other eyeball to eyeball. You can shoot and I can shoot. You can kill and I can kill. You can destroy and I can destroy'.</div>

"The question is not for me. It is for Buhari, el-Rufai, Shakua. They are the people you have to direct this question to. "From what INEC has done so far, it is not because of the violence, so many people have not collected their PVC. Look at the <i>'ojoro'</i> that is going on in INEC. Twenty of the twenty seven Local Governments in Borno are in the hands of Boko haram but more people have collected PVCs in Borno than in Abia state where there is no crisis.</div>

"For me, let every person be allowed to vote without PVC. If we are going to use the PVC, then INEC is not ready. But I am not calling for the postponement of the election. We will win the election decisively. On the 14th of February, there will be 'failbuhari' and will win decisively."</div>

His neighbors attacked him thinking he was attempting to perform a ritual until he was able to explain to them what he was doing.</div>

He also said there were cases of people collapsing among the crowd that had gathered, but some of them were revived by sympathisers who fanned and poured water on them.</div>

According to <b>Punch</b>, Police officers and officials of the <b>Department of State Service</b> on Sunday, January 18, got into a scuffle at the airport's tollgate over toll fee. An eyewitness, <b>Wale Williams</b>, told the newspaper that the scuffle started after some DSS officials in a convoy of three vehicles seized a toll collector for allegedly demanding money from them, saying they were "officers of the law."</div>

The toll collector had asked for money and had also refused to allow the DSS officials passage. According to the eye witness, the DSS officers who had reportedly refused to pay because they were officers of the law, forced their way inside before coming back to drag the toll collector.</div>

This enraged policemen guarding the tollgate who got into a hot exchange of words with the DSS operatives. "At a point, the officers pointed guns at one another," Wale Williams revealed.</div>

"There were about five of the DSS and policemen there. When the toll policemen said they should follow them to the station, the convoy policemen drew their guns at the toll police officers. The DSS officials too, who had sophisticated arms, pulled them out and it became a free-for-all. It was a real madness," Wale Williams told the <i>Punch</i>.</div>

The DSS officials however agreed to follow the policemen to the station after several minutes of hot exchange of words and scuffle.</div>

According to a website in that country, many of its citizens believe erecting such bill boards, pasting posters of the president on their streets as well as carrying out a massive radio and television campaign, is uncalled for and smirks of misplaced priority.</div>

According to a Kaduna indigene who spoke with <b><a href="http://www.thecable.ng/jonathans-campaign-buses-smuggled-kano">TheCable</a></b>, the drivers' fears were well-founded, as it was a crime of sorts in Kaduna to publicly display solidarity with Jonathan's re-election ambition. </div>

"No single driver accepted the job because they were afraid that they would be attacked," he said. </div>

(ii) attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for periods totalling up to a minimum of one year, and</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
(iii) the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English language to the satisfaction of the Independent National Electoral Commission; and</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
(d) any other qualification acceptable by the Independent National Electoral Commission.</div>

What is required under the law is that there must be evidence that a candidate is educated up to the required level and not that he must or should produce a certificate to prove the level of education attained…" </b>PER UWA, J.C.A (Pp. 52-53, para.D-C)</blockquote>

General Buhari submitted his particulars to INEC on oath, which is what the law requires him to do. In addition to this, he has demonstrated that he completed secondary school education by asking his school to release his results. It is believed that this conclusion was reached by the President after extensive discussions with his political advisers and strategists on the APC's choice of the law professor cum pastor of the RCCG as General Muhamadu Buhari's running mate.</div>

A source at the meeting said while <b>offers of oil blocks are being made to some of the top pastors at the meeting</b>, PDP strategists are warning the president that General Muhamadu Buhari's running mate, Pastor Yemi Osinbajo is not just a senior pastor trained by the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, but <b>a beloved spiritual son</b> of the highly respected religious leader.</div>

The concern of the PDP strategists is that their (the pastors') promises to support Jonathan's second term ambition may not after all hold much water.</div>

President Jonathan's political strategists are believed to be looking for means to break that bond, but the General Overseer has simply refused to allow himself to be so politically encumbered.</div>

A source said, for instance, that Adeboye did not attend the meeting last Thursday as he has said he would be apolitical since there are members of the church in both APC and PDP. Only a minister from his government, Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, Sports Minister was in attendance and being an RCCG member, the minister was not introduced as representing Jonathan at the event.</div>

The PDP strategists are also reminding President Jonathan that Adeboye okayed it that Osinbajo should accept the offer of a running mate from General Buhari even before it was eventually decided and announced by General Buhari.</div>

Now, President Jonathan is being advised to do more, possibly to reach out directly to the General Overseer for a more public outing with him as the elections draw near. It is believed that after his public appearance with General Buhari earlier in January at the annual thanksgiving service, Adeboye's visit to the wedding in the president's family restored some hope of his "neutrality."</div>

However inside sources at the RCCG say Pastor Adeboye is not very particularly enamoured of President Jonathan because as the source disclosed "the president has not been as obedient to Pastor Adeboye as one would expect."</div>

<b>Security forces, on Tuesday, averted what was potentially an ugly situation, as hundreds of supporters chanting <i>"Sai Buhari"</i> attacked the motorcade of President Goodluck Jonathan in Katsina.</b></div>

A combined unit of soldiers and anti-riot policemen dispersed the supporters as they surged forward with the intent to attack the president and his delegation, as they visited the house of Hajia Dada, mother of the late President Umaru Yar'Adua in her residence at Yar’Adua Quarters, Katsina.</div>

There was palpable tension as the president’s convoy drove past the area, with hundreds of Buhari supporters brandishing brooms, the APC symbol and welcoming the president with chants of  'Sai Buhari', while some could be heard calling Jonathan “arna,” an unbeliever.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The president was about to emerge from the residence of Hajia Dada when the crowd suddenly started to surge towards his convoy, but the timely intervention of the security forces who fired canisters of tear gas provided cover for the convoy to speed away.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
As the convoy sped towards the Katsina Airport, the crowd hurled stones at it, but nobody was hurt in the motorcade.</div>

With the president were Vice President Namadi Sambo, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu, Governor Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State, ministers, other top members of PDP leadership, among others.</div>

As the president’s aircraft took off for Abuja, members of his advance party staying behind were advised to hide their identity, in order to prevent them from being attacked by mob.</div>

Jonathan had taken his campaign to Katsina State, telling the people that he would not have been president but for the goodwill of the people of the state.</div>

Addressing crowd of supporters earlier at the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in the state capital, he recalled how he was chosen by late former president, Yar’Adua, to be his deputy in 2007.</div>

Jonathan, therefore, assured them that as president, he would do anything required by Katsina people, even before they asked.</div>

Jonathan noted that his administration provided Katsina State a federal university because it was not impressed that as a cradle of western education, the state was not served by a federal university.</div>

The president said his administration had also established 38 almajiri schools in the state with about 18,000 pupils.</div>

On insecurity in the North, he observed that it was a problem facing other countries of the world, adding that his administration had been able to deal with the situation so far because of its focus.</div>

Otherwise, I would have dismissed it for what it is - sheer mischief and would not have considered it an issue worth the Nation's while.</i></div>

<i>I had assumed all along that all my records were in the custody of the Military Secretary of the Nigerian Army. Much to my surprise, we are now told that although a record of the result is available, there are no copies of the certificates in my personal file. This is why I formally requested my old school, the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina [Which is now known as Government College, Katsina] to make available the school's copy of the result of the Cambridge/West African School Certificate. This will be made available to the Press the moment this is available.</i></div>

<i>However, before we obtain that, let me say for the record that I attended Provincial Secondary School, Katsina. I graduated in 1961 with many prominent Nigerians, including General Shehu Yar'Adua, former chief of staff at the Supreme Headquarters, and Justice Umaru Abdullahi, a former President of the Court of Appeal. We sat for the University of Cambridge/WASC Examination together in 1961, the year we graduated.</i></div>

Gen. Buhari is the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the February 14 election.</div>

The PDP’s plan is to go to court in a bid to stop Gen. Buhari on the ground that his certificates are not with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
The army said yesterday that Gen. Buhari obtained the West African School Certificate (WASC) in 1961. But, said the army, the original copies of his certificates could not be found in his file.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was also learnt that apart from the court, INEC can also determine Gen. Buhari’s fate.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
If in the opinion of INEC Gen. Buhari can contest, no one can stop the APC candidate, lawyers said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The PDP leadership and some Presidency officials sought legal advice on how to get Gen. Buhari disqualified, a source pleading not to be named because of what he described as the “sensitivity” of the matter.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But they were shocked to learn that it was all a wild goose chase.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The legal advice made available to the party indicated that Gen. Buhari cannot be stopped because Section 318 of the 1999 says any candidate can contest for elective office with a minimum of school certificate or its equivalent.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The section also does not say a candidate must pass or fail the school certificate examination or its equivalent, which could be a primary school certificate or the ability to read or write in English.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also, if a candidate has served in the public sector for up to 10 years, this could be the equivalent of a school certificate.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A highly-placed source said: “The legal advice sought by PDP has confirmed that even if the party goes to court, it cannot stop Buhari. The party is in a state of confusion because it has to face the electoral battle with APC.</div>

The 1999 Constitution is explicit in its interpretation of Section 131 of the 1999 Constitution by Section 318.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Section 131 states: "A person shall be qualified for election to the office of President if (a) he is a citizen of Nigeria by birth; (b) he has attained the age of forty (40) years; (c )he is a member of a political party; and (d) he has been educated up to at least School Certificate level or its  equivalent.</div>

"In  Section 318, School certificate or equivalent means (a) a Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent, or Grade II Teacher’s Certificate, the City and Guilds Certificate; or (b) education up to Secondary School Certificate level; or</div>

"(c) Primary Six School Leaving Certificate or its equivalent and (i) service in the public or private sector in the Federation in any capacity acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) for a minimum of  10 years; and</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
"(ii) attendance at courses and training in such institutions as may be acceptable to the Independent National Electoral Commission for periods totalling up to a minimum of one year, and</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"(iii) the ability to read, write, understand and communicate in the English Language to the satisfaction of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC); and</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"(d) Any other qualification acceptable by INEC."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Another source said the PDP has realized its folly because it did not seek legal opinion before raising false alarms that Gen. Buhari is unqualified to contest.</div>

The source added: "The PDP leaders have realised that all their alarms over Gen. Buhari’s certificate amounted to nothing.</div>

"Out of shame, they have decided to keep their findings under wraps."</div>

Another reliable source in PDP said: "We have been briefed that there is little we can do to stop Gen. Buhari."</div>

In Abuja, the Army on former Head of State Gen. Mohammadu Buhari’s academic records, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate obtained the West African School certificate (WASC) in 1961.</div>

The Army however added that the original copy, Certified True Copy, or statement of Buhari’s WASC result could not be found in his file.</div>

"Records available indicate that Major General Muhammadu Buhari applied to join the military as a Form Six student of the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina on October 18, 1961.</div>

"His application was duly endorsed by the principal of the school, who also wrote a report on him and recommended him to be suitable for military commission. It is a practice in the Nigerian Army that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers’ cadre of the Service, the Selection Board verifies the original copies of credentials that are presented.</div>

"However, there is no available record to show that this process was followed in the 1960s.
