<b>Attempts by former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, former Speaker of House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and former Commissioner for Information, Sina Kawonise to run for Senate and governorship seats respectively, have unfortunately hit the brick wall.</b></div>

<b>Daniel</b> had intended to run for Senate to represent <b>Ogun East Senatorial District</b>, but was denied the opportunity by the Chairman, Mobilisation and Organisation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party in the South West, <b>Prince Buruji Kashamu</b>.</div>

<b>Party Structure</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Kashamu who has the grip of the party structure in the State got the ticket as Daniel reportedly withdrew from the race two days to the primaries. It was however, rumoured that, several attempts were made by the national body of the party to swap Kashamu's name for Daniel's, but was futile.</div>

Attempts reportedly made by Daniel and <b>Bankole</b> to cause the change of the party structure was resisted and almost led to their imprisonment as Kashamu instituted contempt of court, but, was later withdrawn by the complainant.</div>

<b>Vanguard</b> gathered that there were attempts to tinker with the list till the last minute when the chance to replace candidates was closed by the Independent National Electoral Commission, <b>INEC</b>.</div>

Perusal of the INEC list of candidates especially for the national assembly indicated that Kashamu had the day as Daniel lost out in the bid to become the Senator representing Ogun East in the Febuary 14 election.</div>

It was also discovered that the former Speaker of HoR failed to emerge the governorship candidate of either the PDP or any other political party.</div>

It was reliably gathered that, after Bankole failed to be the flagbearer of the <b>PDP</b>, several attempts were made by Dimeji Bankole Movement, <b>DBM</b>, to convince the leader of the Social Democratic Party, <b>SDP</b>, in the state, former Governor <b>Aremo Segun Osoba</b> to replace its governorship candidate, Senator Akin Odunsi. But this met brickwall once again.</div>

A source close to Bankole's group hinted that a lot of nocturnal secret meetings were held both in Lagos and Ogun States between Osoba and the proponents of Bankole for governor, with a view to convincing the former to have a rethink on the choice of governorship candidate.</div>

While the meetings were still on, the supporters of Bankole flew the kite that <b>Odunsi</b> had been replaced with Bankole.</div>

<b>Sean Johnstone was jailed for 17-and-a-half years in the UK after he was found guilty of charges including rapes and violent attacks on his girlfriend, Samantha Miller.</b></div>

According to <b>Daily Mail</b>, Miss Miller moved to the Hartlepool and County Durham in 2002 and met Johnstone four years later. Miss Miller told <i>Daily Mail</i> that shortly after she got in with Johnstone, he began to control her life, throwing out her make-up and telling her what clothes to wear. Miss Miller endured the abuse for two years from 2006 before escaping from his home in December 2008.</div>

Miss Miller said she was raped countless times by Johnstone, hit with heavy ornaments and callipers and often went without food. She said her two year relationship with Miller, during which he threatened to kill both her and their child was like “spending two years in a horror film." He also threatened to kill her unless she performed a sex act on his dog.</div>

“I would wake up with him on top of me. The laptop was on in front of me and he said people were watching, that it was connected to a seedy chat room. I was pregnant at the time. He punched me in the stomach, then he raped me. I was too scared to go to sleep at night,” Miss Miller said.</div>

The constant physical abuse she suffered while she was pregnant resulted in the brain damage of their daughter. Doctors said the brain damage was caused by a serious impact while in the womb.</div>

Johnstone was convicted unanimously of every charge in 2012 as <b>Judge Simon Bourne-Arton</b> jailed him, saying he had a “deeply unhealthy interest in sexual depravity”.</div>

The Head of the Media and Publicity of the agency, <b>Mitchel Ofoyeju,</b> noted that apart from those arrested and deported, the number of Nigerians in foreign prisons, with some awaiting execution, has been growing by the day, despite sensitization by the body.</div>

Ofoyeju also said that arrests by the agency at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, in the past two years, rose by 16.22 per cent, while drug seizures decreased by 33.68 per cent.</div>

These indices, he attributed to the desperate and devious means by the traffickers to beat the agency by all means, not learning any lesson from the arrest of others, and also an indicator that operatives of <b>NDLEA</b> are becoming more vigilant in arresting drug traffickers.</div>

The increase in the arrest in 2014, is also a pointer that there is a steady increase in drug traffickers passing through <b>MMIA</b>.</div>

According to Ofoyeju, the Airport Command of the NDLEA in 2014 apprehended 129 suspected drug traffickers, comprising 118 males and 11 females with 436.065kg of drug seizures.</div>

In 2013, the agency apprehended 93 drug suspects with 878.81kg of narcotics.</div>

The breakdown of the 2014 scorecard indicates that cocaine has the largest quantity with 120.44kg. methamphetamine is next with 108.645kg, cannabis sativa (107.855kg), heroin (51.01kg), psychotropic substances (37.285kg) and ephedrine (10.83kg). The estimated street value of the seized drugs in 2014 is ₦2.9 billion.</div>

Buhari noted that the manipulation was discovered when agents of his party compared results obtained on the field with what was available on INEC computers.</div>

Buhari explained his 2011 ordeal thus: "In 2011, I said that I, as presidential candidate, would not go to court. But I made sure my party went to court. We spent about nine months, and again it was the same story. There's no way the ruling party would lose judgment", he said.</div>

"In 2011, from two States in the northern part of the country, we were lucky to get competent party agents. When results started coming in from some of the big States, we tried to get the results that were announced, that were physically brought to the INEC headquarters in Abuja.</div>

"Then we compared the results against the INEC results, and put it in the computer, and the adage, 'garbage in garbage out' manifested itself. What came out was that the presidential candidate of that party was programmed to lose 40% of its scores.</div>

"When it was done in another State, it was 60% or it was 26%. The agents made a presentation and showed it to them. <b>Following recent widespread smear campaigns against the presidential candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd), over his education, training and qualifications, SaharaReporters has unearthed a letter written by the United States Army War College, Pennsylvania praising Buhari’s intelligence and brilliance throughout his stint as a fellow at the prestigious military academy. </b></div>

The letter obtained from a source within the Nigerian military shows that Buhari attended and graduated from the College with the Class of 1980 on June 9 of that year.</div>

In a letter dated 13 June 1980 and addressed to then Chief of Defense Staff, General Alani Akinrinade, the Commandant of the War College, Major-General DeWitt C. Smith Jr described Buhari as "a most distinguished International Fellow" who graduated with the Class of 1980. Lieutenant General, DeWitt C. Smith, Jr, was the longest-serving commandant of the U.S. Army War College, he died in 2005 at the age of 84.</div>

He also informed that while the College has no Class Standings in its grading system, “it should be pointed out that his performance was outstanding in every respect.”</div>

During the ten-month course which was divided into the ‘Common Overview’ and ‘Advanced Courses’, Buhari took the prescribed courses, audited three other courses, and took it upon himself to visit US Army facilities in furtherance of his personal professional understanding of logistics management.</div>

The letter gave profound commendations of Buhari for being “a man of extraordinary aptitude who demonstrated a broad knowledge of current international problems. His keen interest, sense of responsibility and solid grasp of the strategic implications of the important global issues marked him as a key member of any student seminar. Infact, he was at his best in the “give and take” environment of our seminar group discussions where students are encouraged to express their views even though they differ from the group consensus.”</div>

The former Nigerian military ruler turned civil democrat was also credited for his thorough understanding of the major issues in American and global affairs as a result of his “obvious research and analytical facilities far exceeding the majority of his contemporaries.”</div>

Buhari, the War College Commandant continued, also towered over and above his colleagues in written aspects of the Course Work. “his written efforts were “first-rate” and noted for their outstanding quality of research, logic and  communications skills. Brigadier Buhari’s oral presentations consistently reflected those gifts of mind and hearing which are essential in command or group endeavours. His individual presentations were of exceptional value in that he avoided vague generalities and focused on the issues which involved hard, detailed choices.”</div>

Among his class mates, Buhari was described as having the remarkable ability to deal with wide range of issues, no matter their complexities, simultaneously. He also displayed an outstanding “political sensitivity and intimate knowledge of current political-military problems.” He was a key motivator among his course mates as he was able “to effectively contrast his own Army’s command and management philosophies and practices with the United States Army’s in such a way as to be beneficial and educational to all.” He was admired and respected by his colleagues.</div>

Buhari was equally an active participant in extra-curricular activities; he was the Assistant Coach of a junior level soccer team in the local community. Besides, “Muhammadu, his lovely wife Safinatu, and his young family were actively involved in the social life of the College and were a credit to Nigeria.” The Commandant concluded the letter with strong recommendations of Buhari for his exceptional potentials that qualify him to be worthy of the trust of the Nigerian Army and Government.</div>

Following his emergence as the Presidential Candidate of the opposition All Progressive Congress (APC) in a presidential primary that was widely acclaimed as most democratically transparent, General Buhari’s educational training and credentials had been queried in public by key members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).  It was speculated that he had no requisite qualifications for the office of President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The Nigerian Army authorities also joined the fray by claiming it was not in possession of Buhari’s certificates. </div>
