<b>Determined to win the February presidential election, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hired a former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a former Resident Electoral Commissioner as consultants.</b></div>

Also, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) will henceforth coordinate what the party has described as "strategic electoral matters".</div>

The consultants are those who have their loyalists in INEC’s critical units.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
It was also learnt that the consultants have the ears of some senior INEC officials, whose sources said had been working to undermine Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega.</div>

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: "These consultants have been engaged to study the election process and get involved in the way the state and the PDP react to issues on INEC.</div>

"The consultants have also been mandated to sniff around, identify the weak points in the voting process and advise PDP on how to join issues with the election management body.</div>

"We are also suspecting that they want to study the system and how it can be subverted. In fact, their coordinator is expected to relate with some top members of INEC management.</div>

Another source claimed that the consultants had been targeting two areas - the distribution of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and the deployment of Smart Card Readers (SCRs).</div>

The source said: “You can see that already some parties have been influenced to call for the postponement of the general election.</div>

“They want to explore legal and constitutional loopholes in the Electoral Act to create distortion in the voting process and create a stalemate in February.</div>

“The danger at hand is that some of these former staff of the electoral commission have their stooges in sensitive positions in INEC who can easily be used for dirty jobs. We want to appeal to Nigerians to be vigilant and pay attention to their plot.”</div>

Meanwhile, there have been reports of mass burning and invalidation of bought PVCs in the North.</div>

Some of the states are Kaduna, Kano, Adamawa, Sokoto and Kebbi, which are rated as the strongholds of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).</div>

ANKARA, TURKEY - President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, said he has no ambition to stay in office beyond 2015, assuring Nigerians in Diaspora that while he will not contest the 2015 election, he will ensure that this year’s election is free and fair.</div>

The President promised that if voted in for the next four years, he would ensure significant improvement in key sectors of the economy - security, power, education, road, health amongst others.</div>

<b><span style="color: #cc0000;">“<u>Without security, there is no government</u>. So it is not debatable, it is something we have to addressed [sic] and we are working towards that with vigour. But if I’m voted into power within the next four years, the issue of power will become a thing of the past. <u>Four years is enough for anyone in power to make significant improvement and if I can’t improve on power within this period, it then means I cannot do anything even if I am there for the next four years</u>.”</span></b></div>

Jonathan said this while interacting with Nigerians mainly diplomats working in the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, UNECA, and the African Union, AU, in Addis-Ababa.</div>

While fielding questions from those present at the interactive session on whether Nigerians abroad will vote, Jonathan said: “I would have loved that the Nigerians in Diaspora vote this year but to be frank with you, that is going to be difficult now. Presently, the law does not allow the voting outside Nigeria and so this year Nigerians in Diaspora will not vote but I will work towards it <b><span style="color: #cc0000;"><u>by 2015 even though I will not be running for election</u></span></b>.”</div>

On the issue of security, Jonathan said the government was doing everything possible to arrest the situation. He disclosed that all those involved in the October 1 bombing had been arrested and were being prosecuted. He, however, said he ordered the release of the car dealers because they were just businessmen who could not have known that the vehicles were to be used for such heinous crime.</div>

On education, the President said, the nine new approved universities were to be specialised and to be headed by at least three Nigerians experts in Diaspora.</div>

On the concerns raised of having a database of Nigerian experts in Diaspora, President Jonathan assured that he was working on creating a forum for interaction between them and government and also develop a database, where experts needed to address the various challenges of the economy will be drawn. He hinted that this was why the Diaspora Commission was being set up as the bill was already before the National Assembly.</div>

The President also disclosed that the government is looking towards reviewing the country’s foreign policy to ensure that Nigeria gets maximum benefit from its roles and contributions to international organizations like the AU, UN and ECOWAS.</div>

He lamented that right now Nigeria’s contributions were not being recognized adding that “there is need for Nigeria to have something in return for our investments. We are investing so much but it is not being noticed and there is need to reverse that trend".</div>

On the concerns about road network and transportation in the country, President Jonathan assured that the railway system will be revamp [sic] because presently heavy duty vehicles were destroying the roads. “Why we cannot have continuous road maintenance for now because no contractor wants to go into it because of the continuous pressure on the road by heavy duty vehicles. That is why we are working to ensure that we revamp the rail”.</div>

The President also assured that Nigerians working in international organization and institutions would be issued diplomatic passports. He directed the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Odein Ajumogobia to submit the list of those qualified within the shortest possible time to him.</div>

On the 35 per cent affirmative action implementation and the domestication of protocols signed, he assured that he will present before the National Assembly within the shortest possible time.</div>

In the heated conversation that lasted over 20 minutes, the pro-Jonathan militant was non repentant and aggressively supported his campaign for the continued reign of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.</div>

I told him that at a time I had respected him (Dokubo) but now he has lost all my respect; asking how much money would make him support a killer leadership. I asked how insensitive he was witnessing how Jonathan’s corruption had undermined the army and how the president’s failures (not complying with the Paris summit agreement to station 700 troops to defend the border) directly led for instance to the death of over 2500 defenseless Nigerians at Baga.</div>

He mentioned Fulani.</div>

I asked what the poor Kanuri fishermen and farmers of Baga had to do with a so-called Fulani thing.</div>

He responded that the killings were in the north and he had no business or care about that. He further cited wars in other places and the example of Libya and the sack of Moammar Gaddafi.</div>

I told him that in those cases there was not an inebriated and cluelessly corrupt government that caused the preventable wars and asked him why then does he support Jonathan who disgraced Africa being the first African leader to support the NATO destruction of Gaddafi and Libya in effect, while great leaders like Jacob Zuma stood behind Libya.</div>

He said something about having trained in Libya and accused General Buhari, chief opposition candidate of receiving funds for his presidential campaign in 2011 from Gaddafi.</div>

I did not understand his point, because I supported Gaddafi and Libya against the colonialist sponsored invasion and have no grouse with Gaddafi.</div>

I insisted; that why will he support a Jonathan who aided the hegemonists destroy North Africa by sacking Gaddafi, now leading to the proliferation of arms and instability in the entire region.</div>

I went on to ask him how much he had been paid and what this money was worth, that it made him sell his soul for a hopeless candidate.</div>

He continued a tirade against the North, the “Gambari’s” and the Yorubas, saying all were traitors and that why am I interested in the Fulani ruling me.</div>

I told him that this conversation had nothing to do with Buhari; that if he wanted he should not support anyone, or should have brought out a responsible candidate from his family, but how does his conscience feel supporting someone who was killing innocent people across the country.</div>

He responded again accusing Yorubas, the group to which I belong, of being traitors and bragging of all the bombs his terror group had detonated across Yoruba land.</div>

I told him that his desperation for a penny had made him betray the true struggle of the Ijaw people; I pointed out that Bayelsa was the most polluted piece of land on the planet with terrible suffering.</div>

He challenged my stats and asked me what I knew about Bayelsa.</div>

I responded that I lived there for a year and that the sky there is still red with burning of natural gas. I told him how oil spillage has destroyed their ecosystem under Jonathan.</div>

He asked how long Jonathan had been there.</div>

I retorted that 6 years was long enough to effect transformation.</div>

He said I lied and that I had never lived in Bayelsa.</div>

I told him he was a coward, that if he was not he would have liberated his father’s house and kept the oil under its soil for himself.</div>

He laughed and responded that we (Nigerians) are their slave; that they will support Jonathan to rule till 2019 after which they will then take “their” oil and go.</div>

I asked him if Jonathan was supervising the Boko Haram pogrom of the north as some sort of “revenge” for Nigeria’s past errors.</div>

I asked him why Goodluck Jonathan had not restructured the country so he can preside over Otueke and leave other people alone and not continue to finance and supervise our suffering and deaths. Telling him about the failure of the national conference when only the Yorubas in attendance and Northerners like the Lamido of Adamawa had asked for their own sovereignty, but his people had failed to make such push and Jonathan had failed to use the avenue of the conference to bring about change.</div>

He was reported to have made the statement last Sunday when the President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan came to worship at Faith Tabernacle, which is the headquarters of the ministry.</b></div>

The falsehood that is being spread around by mischief makers is that the Bishop, while praying for the President, said, “<b><a href="http://nigerianewsroom.blogspot.com/2015/01/to-bishop-oyedepo-gatekeeper-of-hell.html">I will open the gates of hell to anyone who oppose you.</a></b>” A little later, some others who in an attempt to “defend” the Bishop, came up with another quote purportedly said by Dr. Oyedepo, which is: “I will open the gates of hell to those who oppose the peace of this nation.”</div>

Well, let’s set the records straight: The Press and Publicity Unit of the church, publishers of Faith Tabernacle News, was at the 3rd service and recorded (on tape), the President’s 6-minute speech, the congregational prayer for him and the Bishop’s blessing on the President.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, who is also the presidential candidate of the ruling party – the PDP, came to the church as the President of this country, not as a candidate in the forthcoming elections. And Bishop Oyedepo prayed for him, as instructed in the Bible book of 1 Timothy 2:1-2, as the President of Nigeria not as a PDP standard-bearer.</div>

<b>HOW THE BISHOP AND THE CONGREGATION PRAYED FOR THE PRESIDENT</b></div>

Even though we have published it on this platform, for those who are yet to read it, these were the exact words spoken by the Bishop while he was leading the congregational prayers for the President. As always, he took his bearing from the Word of God:</div>

"1st Timothy 2:1-2: I exhort you therefore, that first of all, supplications, prayers and intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men." "I only had an idea of the President’s visit just yesterday. It wasn’t there last Friday when we had the <i>One Night with The King</i>. So we are going to be praying for our President. Let prayers and supplications and intercessions be made for all men; first of all, for kings, and for them that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.</div>

Lord, grant the desires of his heart.</div>

Every time we pray here, God hears. The Bible says 'Wherever 2 or 3 are gathered, I’m there in their midst, and if we agree concerning anything, it’s done for us.' Therefore, in the name of Jesus, our President is declared blessed.</div>

His going out is blessed, his coming in is blessed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The will of God is blessed in his life.</div>

And with what we have seen, most politicians can do just anything to whip up sentiments and score cheap political points.</div>

5. The church has never been involved in partisan politics but has been prayerfully active in ensuring that the Nigerian ship doesn’t sink</div>

6. The church has always obeyed the biblical injunction to pray for those in authority and the “peace of Jerusalem.”</div>

7. This is not an attempt to defend the church or Bishop Oyedepo, as we already know that no matter how far a lie has travelled, the truth will definitely overtake it.</div>

8. This is also not an attempt to defend God, because the Almighty God is more than able to defend himself.</div>

9. As you read this, no one has even called to confirm from the ministry the veracity of this claim and a video recording of the service which is equally online has been labeled “doctored” by those who are bent on dragging the name of the church into partisan politics.</div>

For the record, this is exactly what happened; whatever is being peddled was obviously created by those who want to benefit politically from the controversy; and promoted by bloggers who want to drive traffic to their sites; and spread by those who already think they have an axe to grind with their perceived lifestyle of Bishop Oyedepo.</div>

After the materials were delivered, the displaced persons said they would not receive them, saying there was a political undertone behind the gesture.</div>

Defence spokesman Major General Chris Olukolade and a senior official from Niger confirmed the report yesterday.</div>

Some displaced residents of Malam Fatori, who are taking refuge in Maiduguri as well as those in Bosso and Diffa in Niger Republic, told <b><a href="http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/daily/top-stories/45763-chad-s-forces-cross-into-nigeria-sack-b-haram">DAILY TRUST</a></b> correspondent that Chadian troops have recaptured the town.</div>

Olukolade, when contacted on the development said, "Malam Fatori is within the area of operation covered by the Multinational Joint Task Force [MNJTF] of which Chad has always been a part.</div>

"The Nigerian Air Force has also been conducting air missions there for two days now. It is all part of the ongoing efforts against terrorism", he said.</div>

People who fled the area told the <b>BBC</b> they had seen military planes bombing the town, which is on the shores of Lake Chad.</div>

He said, "Chadian troops routed the insurgents and finally chased them away today (Thursday).</div>

"As you know, Bosso in Niger is much, much closer to Malam Fatori than the communities in Chad, but Chadian troops drove over a long distance in large numbers since two days ago, in a convoy of vehicles.</div>

"My brother was taking refuge in Diffa but he told me that he would go back to Abadam in the next few days.</div>

Some displaced people in Maiduguri, who are natives of Malam Fatori and Abadam, said they were "inundated with calls" yesterday from their loved ones taking refuge in Niger.</div>

"My in-law told me on phone that dozens of Boko Haram insurgents have been killed by the Chadian troops. Most of those that occupied Malam Fatori did not escape", he said.</div>

The Boko Haram insurgents took over Malam Fatori and Abadam on Thursday, October 16 and hoisted their flags on Saturday, October 18. They killed many people as thousands fled their homes into Niger Republic.</div>

Abadam Local Government has an area of 3,973 km² and a population of 100,180, according to the 2006 census.</div>

The MNJTF has a big formation, including tactical command, armoury and barracks at Malam Fatori.</div>

Before the attack last October, the MNJTF facility at Malam Fatori had been attacked by the Boko Haram insurgents on August 4, 2013 which reportedly led to the death of many soldiers and destruction of facilities, as well as attacks on villages and military bases.</div>

It was gathered that the windscreens and windows of some of the vehicles on the convoy were destroyed before security operatives used tear gas and horsewhips to disperse the youths.</div>

Those who witnessed the Thursday incident but pleaded anonymity told the <b><a href="http://www.punchng.com/news/angry-youths-pelt-jonathans-convoy-with-stones-in-taraba/">PUNCH</a></b> that the incident occurred when the President’s convoy was going to the palace of the Emir of Muri, Abass Tafida, from the airport.</div>

One of them said, "Security agents ensured that people were moved very far from the main but at a point, the convoy got to a particular village where the youths became restive.</div>

Sanusi spoke when the state Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) governorship candidate, Bashir Ishaq, visited him in his palace yesterday.</div>

The Emir said  leadership required commitment and sacrifice, stressing that one was at liberty to vote for a candidate of one’s choice.</div>

But, he advised: "You should make sure that you do  not allow your votes to fall into the hands of persecutors; you should not concede your votes to those you know would oppress you."</div>

The Kano Emirate Council, he said, is a non-partisan traditional institution that is never known to be dancing to the whims and caprices of any political party.</div>

The monarch, who spoke at length on the need to avoid violence in the name of politics, also advised politicians to accommodate one another’s views  without prejudice.</div>

<b>The Oba of Lagos Alhaji Ridwan Osuolale Akiolu Friday warned the newly posted Assistant Inspector of Police to the Lagos Zone, Joseph Mbu, to desist from any attempt to intimidate the people of Lagos, as he earlier did in Rivers State.</b></div>
