<b>Many who thought the brouhaha over the WASC certificate of the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buharu, would be put to rest after his alma mater released a copy of his Statement of Result Wednesday might be wrong afterall.</b></div>

The PDP and its sympathizers say the result was forged. Among the queries they raised was that Hausa Language in which Buhari had a 5 (credit) was not offered for assessment in WASC by Cambridge in that year.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, a Nigerian has helped out on this . Sodiq Alabi contacted Cambridge University by email to enquire whether or not Hausa Language was offered for assessment in 1961. The university replied and confirmed that truly it offered Hausa Language as one of the African Languages assessed in 1961.</div>

<b>Five police officers attached to the Anti-Robbery Squad of  the Lagos Police Command, are in serious trouble for allegedly receiving a bribe of ₦150,000 from a suspected fraudster who has been on the radar of the police for many months.</b></div>

According to the reports, the police who have been arrested and are currently in detention, had arrested the suspect identified as Ifeanyi, a notorious internet fraudster and demanded the money in exchange for his freedom.</div>

The suspect was said to have taken the accused police officers to an ATM machine and withdrew the sum for them while they allowed him to escape.</div>

"The incident happened on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. The five police officers arrested him and then took him to the ATM.</div>

"After the withdrawal of an initial sum of ₦100,000, they asked him to make a transfer of the remaining sum.</div>

The suspect then turned round to be the nemesis of the police officers as he petitioned the police, asking for a probe of the 5 officers whom he claimed framed him up to extort the money from him, as he was innocent of the accusation leveled against him.</div>

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, confirmed the arrest of the officers, just as the force were investigating the petition, adding that anybody found culpable would be punished.</div>

"In line with the Commissioner of Police’s stance on anti-corruption, transparency and professional conduct, we arrested the officers. The CP has said he has zero tolerance for corruption.</div>

<b>A woman in  Akwukwu-Igbo community, Delta State has been arrested after she allegedly sold her neighbour’s baby for the sum of ₦250,000.</b></div>

The woman, <b>Eunice</b> (surname withheld) sold the baby to a woman in Lagos who is said to have been married for 18 years without a child.</div>

Eunice got custody of the baby last Wednesday, January 14 when her neighbour appealed to her to help look after the baby while she ran some errands in the market. Eunice then carried the baby to her buyer and a deal was sealed.</div>

It was revealed that Eunice disappeared after she sold the baby; police however acted swiftly on a tip from a neighbour who sighted her when she was selling the baby and traced Eunice to a hotel in Ore Community of Ondo State where she was apprehended.</div>

Barnes has a criminal record that goes back to 2001, when he was arrested and convicted of two counts of felony robbery.</div>

They launched an aggressive campaign to convince Nigerians that our presidential candidate is not qualified to run because he has no secondary school leaving certificate, but that also did not fly, as the certified results of his Cambridge examination have now been published for all to see.</i></div>

<b>The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, has maintained that the Commission cannot disqualify the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj.Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), even if he does not present his senior school certificate in the future.</b></div>

Jega, who spoke on Wednesday night during an interview on a <b>Channels TV</b> programme, titled, <i><b>Straight Talk With Kadaria</b></i>, said those asking the commission to disqualify Buhari were free to go to court.</div>

He said the Electoral Law permitted that if any presidential candidate cited any documents that he could not produce, he could swear to an affidavit.</div>

On the eligibility of Buhari and the calls for INEC to disqualify him, Jega said, </div>

"When a political party presents a candidate and he meets all the requirements of submission -deadline and the forms- INEC cannot reject such a candidate.</div>

"There is a provision that the candidates should provide documentary evidence of whatever qualification they have cited, but the law also permits that if you cite documents and you don’t have photocopies, you can swear to an affidavit and in this case, INEC by the provision of the section 31 of the Electoral Act cannot disqualify an appropriately nominated candidate of any party. We can deregister a political party, but the law says we must accept any candidate; it is a matter for the court, they are free to go to the court."</div>

The INEC boss also allayed fears over cloned Permanent Voter Cards, allegedly made to rig the forthcoming elections.</div>

He said, "They can attempt to clone our cards but they cannot succeed. The card reader would detect any fraud. We are 100 percent sure that no cloned card will be used."</div>

Responding to a report that the Department of State Service had access to INEC’s database, Jega also dismissed the claims.</div>

He said although the DSS approached INEC to carry out investigations on certain electoral crimes, the commission didn’t release the private data of voters to the DSS.</div>

He said, "By law, we are supposed to protect the secrecy of the voters and we have a lot of information in our database. We have not made our database accessible to anybody. The DSS came to investigate, they asked questions and we are willing to assist any security agency to do a thorough investigation to determine whether there is a crime or attempt to commit a crime."</div>

Speaking about his plans after the end of his tenure in June, Jega said he would go back to teaching.</div>

I am grateful to the Almighty God who gave me the opportunity to discharge these duties well. I supervised the 2011 elections that were adjudged one of the best elections in the country. We are the only administration that has conducted two elections consecutively and we are doing everything possible to make all a success. I will return to teaching after my tenure ends."</div>
