Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and Governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, is confident that the Peoples Democratic Party will not get up to 25 percent of the total votes cast in the state during the 2015 general election.</div>

El-Rufai ,who spoke with journalists at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, Monday, also said that residents of state should not expect magic from him when he is elected as governor of the state in view of the state’s huge debt profile and its dwindling revenue.</div>

The former minister explained that apart from the 1999 elections, the PDP has never won any other election in the state, saying “As far as l am concern, the PDP has never won governorship elections in Kaduna State other than 1999. They only stole the election in 2003, 2007 and lost to CPC in 2011.”</div>

“You can’t even popularly say you are PDP. All the PDP leaders are leaders in secret. Kaduna is an opposition state and it has always been.</div>

“What has been happening was that the opposition parties were too weak to protect their votes, but we thank God that the merger of the three main opposition parties in the states and other groups has created a very strong APC.</div>

Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) will tomorrow (Tuesday) hold repeat primary elections.</div>

This is to select candidates that will represent it in the 2015 general elections for the House of Representatives in the three Federal constituencies where the process was inconclusive during last Sunday’s statewide primary elections.</div>

The Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, saddled with the task of conducting National Assembly primaries in the state, Senator Adudu, made this known in a statement on Monday.</div>

He affirmed that the affected federal constituencies are: Abeokuta South, Ijebu Central (comprising Ijebu Ode, Odogbolu and Ijebu North East LGAs) and Ijebu North (consisting Waterside and Ijebu East LGAs).</div>

The party further stated that the rescheduled primary elections are aimed at creating a level playing field for all the aspirants and give opportunity for the qualified delegates to freely make their choice.</div>

Despite all odds; Ogun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) conducted its gubernatorial primaries with Prince Gboyega Isiaka emerging the party’s candidate for 2015 governorship election in the state.</div>

Isiaka who was the governorship candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) during the April 26, 2011 governorship polls in the state but lost to Senator Ibikunle Amosun, defeated eleven other contestants to become the PDP flagbearer.</div>

He polled 705 votes while the closest contestant to him, Hon. Kayode Amusan, scored 151 votes. 10 other contestants including Prince Yanju Lipede, Tony Ojesina, Abiodun Akinlade scored zero votes.</div>

Representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the National and state headquarters respectively including David Asemo, Clement Idoko and the Commission’s administrative Secretary in Ogun, Dickson Atiba witnessed the exercise.</div>

The exercise, which was conducted by Bayo Dayo – led state Executive Committee began with uncertainty and accreditation of delegates could not commence until noon and voting began by 2: 25p.m amidst doubt that it may not hold following the directives by the National Leadership of the party which had ordered the postponement.</div>

The election which was held amidst tight security at Umar Musa Yar’adua Hall of Murtala Square in Kaduna was peaceful and orderly.</div>

Indications emerged early Monday morning that the incumbent may have been endorsed as a consensus candidate of the party, this was supported when three out of the five aspirants cleared for the primary, former secretary to Kaduna state government, Samaila Lawal Yakawada, ex – minister of state for aviation, Felix Hassan Hyat and Air Comm. John Boko Ajeye (rtd) all stepped down ahead of the primary.</div>

The consensus issue was however debunked when Sen. Aziz stood his ground for the election to hold. Though, the landslide victory at the end of the process gave credence to the fact that all the other aspirants may have agreed to lend their support to Governor Yero.</div>

Speaking after conducting the election, Chairman of the Kaduna state PDP governorship primary committee, Dr. Steven Oru said there was level playing field for all the aspirants noting that the peaceful and orderly nature of the primary further proved the internal democracy in the ruling party.</div>

“There is a level playing field for all aspirants. The process was free, fair and transparent to be sure that the best candidate emerged. Governor Yero recorded 970 votes, Sen. Zego Aziz had one vote and there was one invalid vote. The total vote cast is 972. We declare Governor Mukhtar Yero winner of the gubernatorial primary.”</div>

Speaking after the election, Governor Yero commended the delegates for the orderly way they conducted themselves; “I want to thank everyone especially the delegates for finding me worthy of being the one to contest the Governor of Kaduna state in 2015. In the primary election conducted in Abuja, Ribadu defeated five other contenders including Governor Bala Ngilari who scored 26 votes.</div>

Former Senate Leader, Teslim Folarin, Monday emerged the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State just as Sen. Rashidi Ladoja picked the ticket of Accord party.</div>

This came as a major contestant for the PDP ticket, Adebayo Alao-Akala and three other aspirants shunned the primary. They are Seyi Makinde, Femi Babalola and Isaac Owolabi. They did not show up at the primary held at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium (formerly Liberty Stadium), Ibadan.</div>

Out of 198 total valid votes, Folarin polled 167 to defeat his closest candidate, Hazeem Gbolarumi, who scored 12 votes. However, Akala scored two votes while Prof. Soji Adejumo polled four and Dr Azeez Adeduntan three.</div>

ABEOKUTA - The People’s Democratic Party in Ogun State, Monday, elected the former governorship candidate of the Peoples Party of Nigeria in the 2011 election, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka as its standard bearer for next year’s poll.</div>

The primary which was held at the party Secretariat,  Kuto,  Abeokuta was held in defiance of the partys National Working Committee which reportedly cancelled the primaries following the confusion over the delegates list.</div>

At the end of the governorship primary monitored by the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, the state  PDP standard bearer scored 705 votes to defeat Jelili Kayode Amusan and Omoba Segun Adewale who scored 151 and zero votes, respectively. Over 900 delegates voted in the Ogun PDP governorship primary.</div>

Isiaka emerged the Ogun PDP governorship candidate in a primary election which was  boycotted by eight of the party’s aspirants vying for its ticket.</div>

The eight aspirants who boycotted the Ogun PDP governorship primary include Asiwaju Tony Ojesina, Prince Yanju Lipede, Dr. Remilekun Bakare, Alhaji Sarafa Tunji Ishola, Dr. Yomi Majekodunmi, Prof. David Bamgbose,  Isiaq Akinlade, Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye and former speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole.</div>

Also, both the  former president Olusegun Obasanjo and ex-governor Gbenga Daniel whose names were mentioned  were  conspicuously absent at the  governorship primary.</div>

But, other party chieftains, including the Chairman, Organization and Mobilization Committee for the PDP in the South West, Prince Buruji Kashamu; the state PDP chairman Bayo Dayo ; former deputy governor, Salmot Badru; Chief Iyabo Apampa; Chief Tunde Osunrinde and Dr. Femi Majekdunmi as well as other party bigwigs.</div>

The election was  held under tight security provided by heavily armed anti-riot policemen, men of the State Security Service and operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.</div>

Delegates were thoroughly frisked by stern-looking security agents who manned the gates to the PDP state secretariat venue of the primary which kicked off at about 2:25pm.</div>

However, the  PDP NWC had in a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh announced the cancellation of the Ogun governorship primary.</div>

Metuh said that the Ogun PDP governorship primary had not been authorized by the party’s national headquarters, warning that the exercise which had been declared null and void would amount to a nullity.</div>

The PDP national publicity secretary however added that a new date for the conduct of the Ogun PDP governorship primary would be announced later by the party national leadership.</div>

In his opening remarks before voting commenced, Chairman of Ogun PDP, Chief Bayo Dayo assured that the primary election would produce a credible governorship candidate for the party in the state.</div>

The police are on the trail of a 50-year-old man, Vincent Uzor, who is on the run after allegedly raping his 14-year-old daughter.</div>

<i>PUNCH Metro</i> learnt that the victim was raped last week Tuesday in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos State where Uzor lived with his second wife.</div>

It was gathered that the victim’s mother died about seven years ago after which she started living with her grandmother.</div>

However, when the old woman became plagued with ill health, she was said to have been taken to the Ogijo area of Ogun State, where she stayed with an aunt.</div>

But the aunt, three weeks ago, reportedly sent her to her father in Ebute Meta, saying she wanted to travel.</div>

The Primary four pupil in an interview with our correspondent said her father defiled her while she was in the kitchen.</div>

She said, “My mother died seven years ago. I did not know my father because I grew up with my grandmother. It was when I was 12 years old that I was told I had a father.</div>

“Three weeks ago, my aunty told me I would stay with my father for a few days because she was travelling and did not want to leave me alone at home. That was how I went to stay with my father.</div>

“On Tuesday, around 6.30pm, my father asked me to warm the soup on the stove. He suddenly followed me inside the kitchen and shut the door. I thought he wanted to cane me, and I started begging him.</div>

“Instead, he removed his clothes and pulled my skirt and pants. Then he had sex with me. It was painful and blood gushed out from my private parts. He then said he was sorry.”</div>

The victim said her father gave her N500 for treatment after she complained of pains in her legs.</div>

However, before the police could arrive at the scene, Uzor was said to have fled the house.</div>

A source close to Mr. Obasanjo confirmed to <i>SaharaReporters</i> late last night that copies of the former president’s exhaustive autobiography were already available to buyers in print form. The source said that the book would soon be available in an electronic version that is beyond the jurisdiction of Nigerian courts.</div>

Mr. Obasanjo also accuses the president of surrounding himself with aides and political associates with corrupt tendencies.</div>

Not really, my dad was an actor before he became a Prophet. So, he did not object to it but my mother was afraid because many people told her that I would have to go diabolical to make it in the industry. Also, the fear of losing me, her simple and God-fearing daughter to some worldly things made her object. But later I was able to convince her that all I needed was her prayers. And being a prayer warrior, God answered her prayers and the rest is history.</div>

Then a woman’s virginity was her pride but time has changed and human beings have changed. I am not happy about it. Maybe we should blame civilisation or modernisation for this.   I pray for God’s intervention in this era.</div>

But when you are wise and didn’t fall for their money or material things, you become their enemy. They label you all sorts of names and they would do everything in their power to run you down. This could be very annoying and could make one to get rude sometimes.</div>

But honestly, false and scandalous stories don’t bother me because when I decided to pick this job I knew such things would be writen about me. Everyday, something, true or false must be writen about a known person. And over time I have grown to love being talked about.</div>

In Nasarawa State, former governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu will face a fierce battle from former General Officer Commanding (GCO) 1 Division, Kaduna, General Ahmed Abokie (rtd) for the APC ticket. Senator Musa Nagogo may get a return ticket for the Nasarawa North. Also in Gombe State, a former governor, Danjuma Goje, is running for the Gombe Central senatorial ticket.</div>

None of the incumbent senators is contesting the APC ticket in Ogun State as Senators Gbenga Obadara, Adegbenga Kaka and Akin Odunsi have defected to the newly registered Social Democratic Party (SDP) on whose platform they will run. In Rivers State, Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), Senator Magnus Abe, who just lost out in the governorship race, is favoured to pick the ticket for the Rivers East Senatorial District.</div>

Senator Wilson Ake will pick the Rivers West Senatorial District slot. A chartered accountant, Femi Olaore, may emerge as candidate for the Oyo South ticket, which Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, who has defected to Accord Party, occupies. In Jigawa, former deputy governor, Ubale Shitu, is expected to pick the Jigawa North senatorial ticket. In Ekiti, the three serving senators Tony Adeniyi (Ekiti South), Olubunmi Adetumbi (Ekiti North) and Babafemi Ojudu (Ekiti Central) are primed to pick the ticket in today’s primaries.</div>

Despite the security challenges in Borno, politicians are jostling to win the Senate seats today. In Borno Central, serving Senator Ahmed Zannah is contesting while Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume may emerge as the candidate for the Borno South. In Edo, Senator Ehigie Uzamere (Edo South) will face a tough challenge from the Chief of Staff to Governor Adams Oshiomhole and former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon. Senator Domingo Obende, currently seeking reelection to represent Edo North, will slug it out with the Secretary to the Edo State Government (SSG), Prof. Julius Ihonvbere. In Osun State, two of the senators, Babajide Omoworare (Osun East) and Sola Adeyeye (Osun Central), may retain their seats while Hussein Mudashiru (Osun West) has lost out.</div>

He will be replaced today by former governor of the state, Senator Isiaka Adeleke. In Zamfara, Senators Rufa’i Ahmed Sani (Zamfara West), Sahabi Ya’u (Zamfara North) and Kabiru Garba Marafa are expected to pick the tickets with the support of Governor Abdulaziz Yari.</div>

In Katsina State, two of the serving senators – Abu Ibrahim (Katsina South) and Hadi Sirika (Katsina North) – are contesting in the senatorial race. Also, Senator Ibrahim Kabiru Gaya (Kano South) has been endorsed by the stakeholders in Kano State while in Adamawa State, Senator Bindawa Jibrilla is sure of picking the Adamawa senatorial ticket.</div>

• I had my Primary School at St. Jude’s Primary School, Ebute Meta, and Lagos. Passed the National Common Entrance in Primary 5 and gained admission into Federal Government College, Warri.</div>

• Recorded the second best result in the entire West Africa in the Higher School Certificate Examinations in the Social Sciences in 1981.</div>

• Graduated with honours in Accounting from the University of Lagos at 21.</div>

• I started my public service career at Lagos State Waste Disposal Board (now LAWMA) as Accountant Grade II in November 1985.</div>

• Worked in the Local Government Service for 10years and was at various times council Treasurer in Alimosho, Shomolu, Mushin and Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Councils.</div>

• In 1998, my commitment to public service earned me the award of the US Fullbright Scholarship for the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship program, in Boston University, Massachusetts, USA on Public Leadership with emphasis on Finance and Accounting.</div>

• I was appointed acting Auditor-General for Local Government in 2000 and became the youngest ever Auditor-General for Local Government in Lagos State.</div>

• I was appointed Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance in January 2005 and in February, 2006, was given the additional responsibility of Accountant-General of Lagos State.</div>

• I was the youngest Permanent Secretary in service and only the second person to hold both positions of Permanent Secretary and Accountant-General at the same time.</div>

• Under my watch, the State Treasury Office revolutionized the way Lagos State finances were raised, budgeted, managed and planned resulting in the state’s budget performing at an average of 85% annually.</div>

• I ensured payment of civil service staff salaries before the end of the month, payment of running cost by 1st week of each month and introduced end of the year package and special/specific welfare for staff.</div>

• I launched the e-payment platform for the monthly staff salaries</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

• I renovated the State Treasury Office, created a conducive working environment, introduced a corporate dress code and provided laptops for all Directors</div>

• I Introduced prompt payment of gratuity and pension arrears of the State Universal Basic Education Board and Local Government old pensioners. </div>

• I introduced regular technical meetings with the Directors of Accounts in all MDAs, facilitated the sponsorship, by the State Governor, of over 1000 accountants to the Annual accountants' Conference in Abuja and initiated the annual retreat for Heads of Accountants as well as Local and International training for staff.</div>

• I co-organised the first ever National Tax Retreat in association with the Joint Tax Board/Federal Inland Revenue Service in 2005.</div>

• I chaired the Technical Committee that produced the Lagos State Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (SEEDS) document.</div>

• I led the audit teams as the Auditor-General in the office of Auditor-General for Local Government to clear and publish the arrears of statutory audits of 1995 to 2004 within 12months.</div>

• I am a scholar, accountant, administrator, an astute leader with strong emotional intelligence, i am an alumnus of Wharton Business School and also attended courses at Cranfield School of Management, Cranfield, England; the Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland; INSEAD, Singapore and the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Boston, Massachusetts, USA.</div>

• I retired voluntarily from public service in August, 2012; the first ever recorded voluntary retirement by a Permanent Secretary in the Lagos State Public Service.</div>
