<b>GUJARAT, INDIA - A loving father is planning to sell his own kidney to raise money for his three morbidly-obese children in Gujarat, India.</b></div>

Two sisters Yogita Rameshbhai Nandwana, five, and Anisha, three, and their 18-month-old brother Harsh, are probably the heaviest children in the world. The kids are unable to walk and even breathe properly due to their incredible weight – 34kg, 48kg and 15kg respectively – and their poor father has nothing to do but to sell his own kidney to fund life-saving treatment.</div>

Their father, Rameshbhai Nandwana, who earns just Rs 3,000 a month is struggling to satisfy his children's extreme hunger, while their mother spends most of her day cooking their meals.</div>

Or, how else does one describe a situation where a young medical doctor who died in a motor accident on the way to his wedding on October 10, 2013 withdrew about ₦4.3m from his own account in Union Bank in Kaduna few weeks after his death? Information from the bank indicated that the dead man used the ATM card to make the withdrawals.</b></div>

A new twist emerged when the dead man applied for an ATM card from his bank and used it to clear his account. A family source said: </div>

When Chidiebere died, we discovered that his mobile telephone number had been blocked. We were surprised because no member of our family told the GSM service provider that Chidiebere had died. So, we took up the matter and it took some time before the line was reactivated. </div>

We got the shock of our lives after reactivating the line. As soon as we switched on the phone, we began to receive alerts of withdrawals from his account. All the withdrawals were made after he had died and had been buried. During his life time, he did not use ATM cards but in death, he applied for ATM card from the bank in Kaduna and started withdrawing all the money in his account. Worse still, Chidiebere was not the owner of all the money in the account. One of his brothers who went abroad in search of greener pastures was sending money to Chidiebere to keep for him. Now, the brother is back and Chidiebere's corpse had withdrawn all the money as the bank wants us to believe.</div>

It was learnt that the family has contacted the bank on the strange withdrawals but it has been prevaricating over the issue.</div>

The incident happened at about 4am on January 14, 2015.</div>

25 years old Timothy Lawani went outside his family house at Old Barracks, Suleja to ease himself, when suddenly he heard someone call his name. Walking towards a red Volkswagen Golf parked behind his house, he was surprised to see an old friend, Friday, comfortably seated in the car beckoning on him with two hefty men.</div>

Narrating his story, Lawani said; "In my confused state, I greeted them. One of them held me and the other sprayed a powder on my face. That was the last thing I could remember. I later saw myself in a very large hall with other young men who were tied up. The kidnappers kept bringing other people to join us. Sometimes, they even offered us food to eat which we all refused. They then said, whether we ate or not, we would die after all.</div>

"After two days, we were made to put on white apparels and join a queue. I noticed that anyone who goes out never comes back; I was so scared. When it was my turn, I went outside, saw a large pool of water like swimming pool and a man standing by the side chanting incantations. He later ordered the guards to take me inside that they were not in need of someone like me."</div>

Continuing, Lawani said: "In my presence, the man called on Friday who came about 40 minutes later. After telling him that I was not acceptable for their rituals, Friday started flogging me mercilessly. He then ordered the men to take me out, but not before the ritualist got angry, and ordered the hefty men to bring Friday for sacrifice in my place. I heard him beg them to give him just 30 minutes to enable him bring another person, but the man said there was no time.</div>

"With Friday's hands and legs tied, the man began chanting incantations again. This time, I saw crocodiles coming out of the water. Friday was then thrown inside, the reptiles feasted on him. I was not myself because of the sight of blood and how such large reptiles ate up a whole human being. The man later ordered the men to throw me out, that I was useless to them. They sprayed a powder on my face again and I became unconscious."</div>

On how he got back to his senses, Lawani recalled that he was sheltered by a Hausa man who saw him wandering in Gwamaja area of Kano State.</div>

After prayers were offered for him for about three days, he regained consciousness but could not speak. It was then he wrote down his father’s phone number which he easily remembered and with which they used to reach his family, that had been searching frantically for him.</div>

His elder brother, Theophilus Lawani, said that his friend sold him to the kidnappers for ₦150,000.</div>

Sources at the 40-minute closed-door session of the party's National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting last Friday disclosed that President Buhari pointedly declared that the APC would not work with "enemies of the party."</div>

As presently constituted, the APC has 59 Senators to PDP’s 49 members.</div>

On Tuesday, June 23, National Chairman Chief John Odigie-Oyegun had sent to the Senate president a list of candidates for the remaining principal office positions of the majority party in the chamber.</div>

They are: Senate Majority Leader (North-east: Senator Ahmad Lawan); Deputy Majority Leader (North-central: Senator George Akume); Senate Chief Whip (South-west: Senator Olusola Adeyeye) and Deputy Chief Whip (North-west: Senator Abu Ibrahim).</div>

At the meeting convened by Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha at the Imo Governor's Lodge in the Asokoro District of Abuja after the NEC meeting, representatives of the Forum insisted that the Senate president must concede one slot in the principal offices.</div>

A source close to the Forum loyal to Senator Ahmad Lawan disclosed to <i><b><a href="http://sunnewsonline.com/new/senate-leadership-crisis-ekweremadu-must-go-apc/" target="_blank">Sunday Sun</a> </b></i>that the group "stands by the decision of the party. The list of four principal officers is before the Senate president. He should do what the party expects of him. The Senate Unity Forum stands by its decision on party supremacy, nothing more."</div>

Asked what would now happen since the Senate president had read the names for the positions as forwarded to him by the various caucuses and the Senators had taken their seats in the chamber before the recess, he replied: "They should resign. If they are loyal party men, they should know that their party has taken a decision and the list is still before the Senate president. The national chairman has not withdrawn the list…The Senate president must reconcile his own principal officers' list with the party's list."</div>

Another senator privy to the series of "peace meetings" convened by party leaders on the matter disclosed that "arguments by the Senate president and the speaker that each geo-political zone must be represented in the body of principal officers, particularly as it concerns the majority party, does not hold water.</div>

"They should show us where it is in the Nigerian Constitution and the Standing Orders of the two Houses…"</div>

It was also gathered that leaders of the party are still angry with the Senate president for not reaching out to the party to explain why he did not act on the list of officers sent to him last month.</div>

"Some members of the party caucuses are still waiting for the Senate president to meet with them to explain his position on why he read letters from our caucuses and why he didn't carry out the wishes of our party through the letter the chairman sent to him."</div>

The meeting with the governors was also being concluded but for the insistence of some members that party leaders from the other side must be consulted before taking a firm decision on resolution of the crisis.</div>

"Their wishes were granted. That was why the meeting was shifted till next week with the belief that all contending interests in the party would be taken into consideration."</div>

In a related development, supporters of the National Leader, Asiwaju BolaTinubu were said to be unhappy with the outcome of the NEC meeting last Friday.</div>

An earlier plan to get Oyegun suspended did not succeed. Rather than suspension, the party's National Working Committee (NWC) passed a vote of confidence on Oyegun.</div>

The second plan was to have the Senate president and the Speaker Yakubu Dogara shut out of the NEC meeting, and the third was that even if the two were allowed to attend the NEC, since they are statutory members, they should have been made to apologize for going against the party's wishes regarding the leadership positions.</div>

There may be compromise, however, in the House of Representatives as the remaining four principal office positions were not filled before plenary was adjourned till July 21.</div>

It was learnt that a fresh crisis is rearing its head in the party over who will chair the BoT.</div>

The National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held last Friday endorsed the constitution of the party's BoT. No date was set for that.</div>

An official of the party revealed to <i><b><a href="http://sunnewsonline.com/new/bot-chairmanship-atiku-tinubu-battle-for-apcs-soul/" target="_blank">Sunday Sun</a> </b></i>that some chieftains of the party are in the trenches over who heads the yet-to-be-constituted BoT.</div>

According to him, the initial permutation was that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar would chair the advisory body. The move, he said was championed by former Lagos State governor and leader of the party, Bola Ahmed Tinubu who wanted the former Vice President to support his candidates for the National Assembly leadership.</div>

However, the APC stalwart who does not want his name mentioned said the music had since changed. According to him, the emergence of Saraki and Dogara as Senate President and House Speaker and the role allegedly played by Atiku in the controversial election had pitted Tinubu against the former Vice President.</div>

His words: "we may be working towards addressing the crisis in the National Assembly but I'm saddened that we may court a new crisis.</div>

"Power struggle is going on over chairmanship of our BoT. Initially Tinubu wanted the position to go to North-East. In fact he lobbied Atiku for it in exchange for his support for his candidates in the National Assembly.</div>

"When Asiwaju lost out in the National Assembly, he changed his earlier stand that Atiku should head the BoT. The reason is clear. He was disappointed that Atiku was one of the arrowheads that torpedoed all the plans made by him."</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Right now, the APC chieftain claimed that Tinubu's henchmen were wholly against either making Atiku the chairman of the body or giving it to any person from the North-East. He did not, however, state the zone or person the ex-Lagos State governor was rooting for. He only predicted that the fight over the office would soon take a messy dimension.</div>

"I will not be surprised if the struggle over the position takes a larger-than-life dimension. I think the matter will be decided by President Buhari who is the leader of the party", the source said.</div>

He said though some APC chieftains from the South-West were rooting for Tinubu to run for the position or nominate his ally from the zone to contest for it, such proposal would not work.</div>

According to him, the South had the position of National Chairman and could not be supported to produce chairman of BoT.</div>

He said: "the South is occupying the office of National Chairman, the BoT must go to the North. It will be difficult to bring up any argument that will change this equation."</div>

On the possibility of Atiku clinching the position even in the face of opposition from Tinubu, the APC official said the Vice President enjoyed the support of most governors from the North who would nominate the BoT members.</div>

He said: "the former Vice President is playing his politics very well at the moment. He has the support of most Northern governors. You and I know that these governors are the ones who will nominate the BoT members again tomorrow night. <b>It was at the church service for the 90th birthday of the legendary matriarch of the Awo dynasty Chief Dr Hannah Dideolu Awolowo in Ikenne that the thoughts that prompted this article began. Some well known highly placed gentlemen and their wives were called upon to partake in the wine sipping, bread breaking ritual called <i>Holy Communion.</i> As soon as these respectable ladies and gentlemen, all of them past age 70, and amongst whom were renowned professors, high court judges, legal luminaries and business moguls, finished their spiritual blessing and were returning to their seats, they caught a pitiable sight in their over-flowing garb of hypocrisy.</b></div>

They wore forlorn mien plastered with furrowed frowned faces like someone afflicted with putrid smell of heavy dose of fart. They looked as if they were mourning a three-year-old boy mistakenly killed by his own father, or the passing of a poor woman who has just succumbed to excruciatingly painful cancer.</div>

They clung to their wives as if they were newly wedded. I temporarily forgot that I was in a holy church, the spiritual enclave of Christians. I almost laughed my head off because I knew each of the "holy" "monogamous" men intimately and by Jove, I knew of their second, third or fourth wives/liaisons/mistresses with whom they had sired several children. To the whole world they were champions of monogamy, but to their hearts and conscience they were celebrated polygamists, or at best, serial monogamists. Pshaw!</div>

I saw pain written all over them, the agony of living a lie, the unease of hypocrisy, and the shame of going through life pretending to be what you are not.</div>

This is the sort of agony a lot of the so-called monogamists go through all their lives. The series of lies they sell to their wives, and the double life they present to their pastors and church leaders, most of whom are actually equally guilty of hypocrisy and double life living.</div>

This piece is not set out to condemn or criticise monogamy. Monogamy is perfect for those who believe in its concept and can genuinely keep to it. I too have been married to one lovely woman for almost 45 years and it has been like a marriage made in heaven. I happen also to be the promoter along with some friends the 35-year-old Family Club of Nigeria which is dedicated to the upliftment and celebration of marriage and family values.</div>

The article is designed to expose the hypocrisy and pain associated with embracing false notions which are really not observed by any culture in the world, and to advise those who erroneously sentence themselves to a life of sadness and emptiness because they were deceived to believe that there is some utopia somewhere called monogamy.</div>

I am very much aware that this article will generate a lot of controversy most especially from those who live holier-than-thou life and have continued to deceive the world that they are upholders of a doctrine that is not supported by true and enlightened interpretation of any religious doctrine.</div>

The white men, I am yet to see any human being whose skin colour is like that of chalk, came and told the unfortunate lands they invaded that the cherished cultures, traditions and religions of such lands were rubbish, and instead indoctrinated them with values which they themselves never believed in or truly practiced. We know of King Henry VIII, and several major historical figures in 'Christian' Europe who had more than one wife in  addition of a string of wives who their 'laws' forbade them to address as wives but who nonetheless perform all the functions of wife minus name.</div>

God bless President Mitterrand who openly confessed to having two women in his life, with the one in the other house with whom he fathered an 18-year-old daughter at the time he passed on.</div>

I have schooled, worked and lived virtually in all the continents of the world and I make bold to say with all emphasis at my disposal that no culture on planet earth truly practices monogamy. My Greek, Italian, Russian, British, American and other Caucasians routinely visit their other wives [called by other names] with whom they have children. But back in the homes shared with the one carrying the ring, they are monogamists!</div>

If God had wanted humanity to be monogamous, He or She would not have made the pigeon the only monogamous creature.</div>

The cultures that practice polygamy had always known that at any given time, the number of available marriageable women far out number available men plus the fact that an 80-year-old man, if he has money, is still very much in the market whereas a 60-year-old woman may not be that lucky. The biological limitation to a woman’s productive age is also a factor. Why should a woman therefore remain on the shelf till age 45 when she could jolly well get married as second or sixth wife to a man who can afford to share life’s responsibilities with her? Why should a woman leave a man with whom she is No 1, simply because [he] took a second wife and end up being numberless in the hands of several men with whom she naturally shares bed just because of some doctrine she hardly understands?</div>

All the women who should go and marry but are saying they do not want to share their man with another woman in a polygamous setting, are sharing current boyfriends with several other women. Where is the logic?</div>

The argument that children in a polygamous house are always at each other's throat does not hold water. Many siblings of monogamous families are known to have had worse and irresolvable, irreconcilable squabble, with dirty bitterness over inheritance than children from different mothers.</div>

In 2002, 502 Reverend mothers were reported to have died while procuring abortion in Rome. <i>Nigerian Tribune </i>wrote an editorial on the unfortunate incident. And stories of Reverend fathers having children and sodomising young men in their care are legion! Why the hypocrisy? Why should the world continue to live the life of Ostrich?</div>

A well known Nigerian journalist hid his other wives from his wife because his religion would not permit of it and his wife, living in monogamy should not hear of it. At his funeral service, other wives surfaced and the woman parading the ring collapsed. It was the grace of God that prevented double interment that day!</div>

The Western world which had not learnt the art of living amicably with more than one partner under the same roof has indulged in multiple serial marriages, divorcing innocent wives under flimsy excuses so that another woman can move in should not be measure of standard for the world. Thank God Hillary Clinton in the US and Mrs Cook in England were very much wiser. They refused to allow some indiscretion on the part of their husbands to ruin their marriages.</div>

There was a well known American actor who passed on about a decade ago and all his 11 ex-wives with their numerous children attended his funeral. To ridicule the lie of their hypocritical existence, all the women were recognised and addressed as wives. As far as records show, the man had 11 wives!</div>

Society must rethink this issue of pretentious monogamy vis-à-vis polygamy so that in the not-too-distant future we do not end up with millions of unmarried women whose life style would be worse than prostitutes' and millions of children whose fathers would be nowhere to be found.</div>

I have already addressed you through the chairman, through the leadership of the party, through your excellencies, the governors and through our Senators and House of Representatives members.</div>

The APC must not disappoint its constituency, thats the nation state. We have to convince our various constituencies that we are individually worthy of the sacrifices that they have made.</div>

They stayed awake day and night, travelling all over the country and made sure as a party, we emerged victorious. What subsequently happened is human, and as human beings we are not perfect, but let our collective actions in this party prove that we have won the elections, the battle and we will win the war.</div>

As for me as a president, I have to clearly understand the constitution of the federal republic of nigeria, the constitution of APC, and having tried three times and successfully lost three times and successfully ending up at the Supreme Court.</div>

I think I have tasted the bitter disappointments and the sweetness of success.</div>

What happened to APC must be given to God almighty. The opposition party, has ruled the country for sixteen years, with all the treasuries, literally in their pockets and all the coercing forces and their command, under their command they still meekly conceded defeat. We congratulate them for that.</div>

I clearly understand the constitution from which INEC was developed with clear terms of reference and one of its important responsibilities is to register political associations as political parties, and whoever wants to participate in elective office as a Nigerian must seek a platform.that platform is the political party, hence, the superior state of the parties. APC has been damn lucky., if I can use that. The way the opposition parties realized, agreed and accepted that the only way through which we can be in the system is for us to come together. The ACN,the ANPP, the CPC, APGA and DPP wanted to come to participate fully in the negotiation,but they have court cases at various levels, and we suspected that if we allow them to participate actively in the negotiation for merger, there being in court cam cause either delay or deny us registration.</div>

So we persuaded our colleagues in APGA and DPP that please stay out of the negotiation, but when we eventually get the registration,they can join in block or individually.</div>

Along the line, I assure you that nothing is done by impulse in our process to merger. There have been various committees, quite a number of you sitting here have been members of committees either leading them or being a member and we agreed. At some stage or the earlier stages, we agreed that nine people should form the interim committee, thats the national chairmen of the parties, the secretaries and the treasurers. We thought we have done a wonderful work, so we sent our application. For the first time in this sixteen or twelve years of my participating actively, I thanked INEC for what they did to us; they sent back our application and said we must have 25 to 35 people to manage your interim if you get registration, and they must come from all the geo political zones. </div>

Why I thanked INEC in particular was because if it has been bloody minded, again ladies close your ears, if they have been bloody minded, they would have kept on raging until it was almost too late for us to get the merger. So they advised us and we sat down, we got I think 35 people to manage us and they I here personally, and on behalf of you now congratulate Chief Bisi Akande, it’s a pity he is not here, he led the interim party with dexterity and integrity. I respect his patriotism. When we got the APC name through the agreement of various committees of the respective parties, we started working from polling unit upwards, eventually we ended up in the convention which gave us the leadership of the party.</div>

After that the election started, and again it started from the bottom top. I have gone to this extent because not all of us here participated in it and for you to reflect and thank the leadership of the party at various stages for going through all this, which is not easy. But God in his infinite mercy has helped by giving us acceptance. Let us not throw this success to the wind.</div>

Let us as members of the APC no matter our personal differences get together and use the mandate given to us by this country. This is my personal appeal to you in the name of God. Whatever your personal interest or ambition, please keep it close to your heart and in your pocket. Let APC work, let the system work and let us have a government that will earn the respect of our constituencies.</div>
