<b>President Goodluck Jonathan has again emphasised that Nigerians must be ready to sacrifice in order to guarantee a great and prosperous nation.</b><br />
<br />
Speaking at the Presidential Villa when he was paid the traditional Easter homage, President Jonathan said the in coming President, General Muhammadu Buhari can only succeed if Nigerians cooperate with him and are ready to make sacrifice for the nation.<br />
<br />
He said those countries who leaders  succeeded achieved such success because of the sacrifice of its people.<br />
<br />
“As a people, as a government what I always believe ‎we should ask is what sacrifice are you making? Now it is not about supporting Jonathan or government, now Buhari is coming on board, it is not about supporting Burhari or his government but what sacrifice as an individual are you willing to make for government and for the nation?<br />
<br />
“Nation building depends on the  sacrifice of individuals  and the patriotism of the citizens. These are two key elements, we must be ready to sacrifice for our nation.<br />
<br />
“If you are a businessman and you say you are supporting government but you don’t pay tax, how do you expect that government to survive? That government will not survive.<br />
<br />
“To me whenever I travel to different countries and see things work, those things didn’t fall down as manna people made sacrifice, therefore in Nigeria people must also be ready to make the required sacrifice. Whoever becomes president is immaterial ‎so long as the citizens are happy. Our children go to school, when we are sick they go to  good hospital and of course the economy blossoms” he said.<br />

<b>Hajia Aisha Buhari, wife of the President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), on Sunday, assured Christian women in the country that they would witness a better deal when her husband formally assumes office as president next month.</b><br />
<br />
Mrs. Buhari,  who stated this in her Easter message to Christian women, said Nigerian women were among the hardest working social group, but had remained economically and politically marginalised.<br />
<br />
She assured them that under her husband’s government, honest labour and hard work would be adequately rewarded, while corruption would be fought aggressively.<br />
<br />
The President-elect’s wife noted that as a social group, “women are among the sorry victims of the social and economic devastation caused by corruption.”<br />
<br />
She advised Nigerian women not to despair as the Buhari-led administration would spare no efforts to promote and protect their welfare.<br />
<br />
Mrs. Buhari wished Christian women the abundant blessings of the Easter celebration.<br />

<b>Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has urged Nigerians to go out en-masse on Saturday and vote in the governorship and state House of Assembly elections as they did in the March 28 election, which produced the President-elect, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.), of the All Progressives Congress.</b><br />
<br />
He said this on Saturday during a surprise visit to Itoku Market in Abeokuta South Local Government Area, while interacting with market men and women in the market.<br />
<br />
Dressed in blue adire, Obasanjo moved from the adire sellers section to herbs sellers section, among others, relating with the traders and felicitating with them in the spirit of Easter season while traders began to chant Sai Baba Obasanjo, Sai Amosun.<br />
<br />
But Obasanjo refused to be boxed into a corner on which party he was canvassing votes for, when journalists caught up with him in the market.<br />
<br />
In his response to what advice he would give to the traders ahead of the April 11 election, Obasanjo said, “They should do exactly what they did last Saturday.”<br />
<br />
He said he had come to felicitate with the traders in the spirit of the Easter season.<br />
<br />
Obasanjo, who spoke in Yoruba, said, “Since I came back from Abuja, I have not come here to say hello to you. This is my community. As a member of the community, I want to know what’s going on and what’s happening in the community.”<br />
<br />
The ex-President had retired from partisan politics earlier this year when he supervised the tearing of his Peoples Democratic Party membership card publicly.<br />
