A leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and former Governor of Oyo state, Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala , says he has concluded plans to defect to the Labour Party.
Otunba Alao Akala while addressing his teeming supporters at his Opadoyin’s Lodge Ogbomoso declare to contest for the Oyo state gubernatorial race in 2015 under Labour party.
His defection was in protest against the shoddy conduct of the ward congress of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State and the way the NWC of the party are handling the issue.
He said a formal declaration of his membership of the Labour Party will hold soon in a ceremony to be attended by all national officers of the party.
Whether Otunba Alao Akala is in PDP, Labour Party, APC or Accord Party, he will still be the issue. In fact, even if there was a provision in the constitution for an independent candidate, he will still be the issue.
The issue is not which party would brighten or dim his chances of winning the elections in Oyo State, because the Akala brand is the real issue. People are interested in him irrespective of the party he is flying his flag.
