South-East Group for Buhari Campaign organization has said that for the Igbos to be properly positioned in the government that is going to be formed by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in 2015, they should come together and vote for General Muhammadu Buhari during the 2015 presidential election.
The leaders of the group, Prince Paul Ikonne and Barr. Kingsley Ugbaja who spoke to Sunday Sun in Umuahia said that Buhari’s victory in the election was assured.
According to them, South Easterners need to join the moving train, key into the Buhari campaign and vote for him so that they would not be left behind in the Nigerian project.
Igbos, they said have suffered so much under the present dispensation as their support for the Federal Government has not earned them anything.
They decried the state of the roads in the South-East, stating that they are all impassable now.
Some roads that used to take twenty five minutes to ply, now take six and a half hours”, they lamented.
“The Aba-Ikot Ekpene road is closed completely. It is not motorable at all, so is Umuahia-Arochukwu road, Umuahia-Bende road, Umuahia-Uzuakoli road, then the major express road, Enugu-Port-Hacourt-road or even Umuahia-Owerri road. For six years now, we have not got anything from the Federal Government,” they cried out.
They advised South-easterners to shun the religious propaganda being peddled by the ruling party, stating that APC is not a religious party but a national party that has the mission to redeem Nigeria from its present doldrums .
“What we are talking about is a way to move on with Nigeria because PDP Government has failed us, and everybody is embracing change brought about by APC. Poverty does not know religion. employment does not know religion, infrastructural failure does not know religion, religion has no role to play in governance. All we want is a straight person to come and fight corruption which is the bane of our problem”.
“We want the South-East to join this group. We are setting up chapters in all the South-East states because we want Buhari to have at least 85 percent of the votes in the South-East so that they can move with the rest of Nigeria. The North has collapsed into APC, the South-West the same. What is left is just the South0East, and we want our people to be stakeholders in this project,” leaders of the group said.
According to them, Buhari is the only man who even his opponents in PDP are recommending to save this country because he has integrity.
They said that the group will embark on door to door mobilization of "our people to tell them that this has nothing to do with religion. This government has failed to the point of not being able to protect her citizens."
