This weird news made headlines last week in all major international dailies. According to the reports I monitored on UK's Daily Mirror and the Huffington Post, a 47-year old man Jonnie Boggess from Miami in Cabin Creek, Florida was arrested by Kanawha County State Troopers after a tip-off by an animal rights group that he was having sex with his dog, a beagle mix, he named Piglet.
It was reported that an animal organisation had received information the dog was being sexually abused, prompting them to contact the authorities. However, Boggess defended the illegal act, arguing it was 'okay' because "Piglet was more than 40lbs and had been spayed", adding that they had had "gentle sexual intercourse" according to Sgt Larry O'Bryan of the West Virginia State Police.

In his report, N M Manolakos, a Kanawha County State Trooper wrote that:
"(Boggess) stated that when he had finished having intercourse that he held 'Piglet', petted her, and told ‘Piglet’ that he loved her."
O'Bryan reported that Boggess later said that he wished he had not had sex with Piglet, and that he was drunk when he did it.
However one neighbor did not believe him, telling a local TV channel: "He has done this with animals before, and it’s no shock."
The police said there were reports that the act occurred multiple times but Boggess only confessed to once.

A Kanawha County Animal Control humane officer came to get the dog, said Sgt Larry O'Bryan who added that the dog had been removed from his home.
Boggess, who admitted having sex with Piglet numerous times over the summer, was released on a $5,000 bond.
When asked if Boggess was mentally stable, O'Bryan said: "He seemed cognizant."
Hehehehe!!! If not for the animal rights group, this animal in human skin as the legendary Fela Anikulapo-Kuti would have called him could have continued having "gentle sexual intercourse" with a lower animal? The end is fast approaching! And, I read Boggess is awaiting sentence. If you were to hand down a sentence for this act in Africa, how many decades (because I know it won't be just years) will you send him to spend behind bars?
