A mechanic in Lagos has been arrested and charged after stabbing another man for 'pinging' while driving.
Olajide Olaniran is said to have attacked 34-year-old Julius Joseph in the Ijaiye area of the state after accusing him of using his phone instead of focusing on the steering of his car.
Joseph also challenged Olaniran for driving against traffic and in the ensuing chaos, Olaniran allegedly stabbed Joseph with a broken bottle and then escaped with his phones and the sum of ₦5,000, Punch reports.
The suspect was however arrested by the police and the victim was taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital in Ikeja for treatment.
Olaniran has subsequently been charged with assault and stealing and the case has been adjourned till January 26, 2015 for mention.
