Prince Andrew has denied ‘any suggestion of impropriety’ after being accused of having sex with an under-age girl in a case relating to millionaire banker Jeffrey Epstein.
In the lawsuit brought against US prosecutors, the unnamed girl claims she was kept as a ‘sex slave’ and ‘loaned out’ to have sex with Mr Epstein’s friends across the world, including the Duke of York.
However, Buckingham Palace has stated the allegations against Prince Andrew, a known associate of Mr Epstein, are "categorically untrue" after they were included in court papers filed in Florida.
The woman was 17 at the time the offences are said to have taken place, which makes her a minor in the US state.
A statement released by Buckingham Palace reads: "This relates to long-running and ongoing civil proceedings in the United States to which the Duke of York is not a party. As such we would not comment in detail.
"However, for the avoidance of doubt, any suggestion of impropriety with under-age minors is categorically untrue."
The lawsuit claims that a woman, referred to as Jane Doe #3 in the court documents, slept with the prince in London, New York, and in the US Virgin Islands.
The court documents say: "One… powerful individual Epstein forced Jane Doe #3 to have sexual relations with a member of the British Royal Family, Prince Andrew (a/k/a Duke of York).
"Jane Doe #3 was forced to have sexual relations with this Prince when she was a minor in three separate geographical locations.
"Epstein instructed Jane Doe #3 that she was to give the Prince whatever he demanded and required Jane Doe #3 to report back to him on the details of the sexual abuse."
The woman behind the allegations told The Guardian: "These types of aggressive attacks on me are exactly the reason why sexual abuse victims typically remain silent and the reason why I did for a long time."
