The national reconciliation committee of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP has commenced intensive efforts to bring back some of its former chieftains who defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Kano state Governor, Dr Rabi Kwakwanso to its folk.

Fielding questions from newsmen in Ile-Ife ,the national Secretary of the Party, Prof. Wale Oladipo hinted that the party has reached out to many of its aggrieved members, especially those who have defected to other political parties.

He noted that the party’s reconciliation committee recently set up by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will meet with all the former members of the party in the APC and other political parties before the next general elections to ensure that the PDP wins the elections in all parts of the country.

This, he said would enhance the victory of President Goodluck Jonathan in the February Presidential poll and also brightens the chances of the PDP in other elections.

He expressed optimism that those who have left the PDP for personal and political reasons would soon join the party, going by the reconciliation efforts of the leadership of the party.

“We are reaching out to our former members particularly those who left the party for the opposition to pursue their presidential ambitions but were humiliated. People like Atiku and Kwankwanso are definitely on their way back to PDP”, he added.
