Glo CAF Awards: I'm Lucky To Win It Again - Yaya Toure

Cote d’Ivoire international Yaya Toure has attributed hardwork with luck as the key behind his fourth African Player of the Year title.

The midfielder became the first player to be named Africa’s best four times in a row beating off competition from compatriot Pierre Aubameyang and local favorite Vincent Enyeama to the title.

In the post-award conference, Toure told media that he felt ‘lucky’ to win it considering the exploits of other contenders.

“I always try to give my best whenever I’m on the field of play,” Yaya told media.

“It was a close one because Vincent and Aubameyang were impressive in their respective clubs and national teams as well. This time around, I would say luck did it again and I’m really proud about this.”

Yaya is yet to lift the Africa Cup of Nations and he said with the calibre of players in the Elephant’s fold, the team will be hoping to emerge as champions, reports Saturday Tribune.

“To be honest with you, we (Cote d’Ivoire national team) want to win major championship but it has been pretty difficult because development have come to African football,” he continued.

“I always wish to but it has been very difficult because sometimes you do well, while sometimes one can perform badly. All depends on whether you have a go or bad team.

“Going into to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, we have a lot of fantastic young players who want to learn and achieve, it will really be amazing to see what we can do.

He also added that his English clubside  have the depth of quality players to prosecute their English Premier League games in their absence.
