Former Head of State and a three-time contender for the Presidency, Muhammadu Buhari, has emerged the Presidential candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) as at the ongoing National Convention of the party holding at Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Buhari who polled a total of 3,430 votes defeated four other contestants among whom is the former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who scored 954 votes out of about 8,000 accredited delegates who participated in the primary election. Other contestants with Buhari are Governors Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of Kano State and Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, and the publisher of Leadership newspaper, Sam Nda-Isaiah.
With this victory, Muhammadu Buhari will face the incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the February 14, 2015 Presidential election.
Goodluck Jonathan had emerged PDP's candidate yesterday in Abuja at the party's National Convention which merely ratified his (Jonathan) candidacy because he was the only aspirant.
