A man in India has been accused of burying his 10-year-old daughter because she was a girl.
Police say Abdul Hussein tied up his young daughter before burying her in the ground while his wife was out.
Abdul Hussein allegedly dug a pit in his back garden while his wife was out and then put his daughter in the hole with her hands tied together with a rope and her mouth taped.
According to reports by NDTV, Abdul Hussein filled up the pit to chest level and was about burying her completely when his wife came home. He had put a bamboo basket over their daughter's head, with the intention of burying her completely later.
The wife however began to question where their daughter was and was soon discovered by the neighbours who beat Abdul Hussein before calling the police.
Abdul is currently in police custody and has been charged with attempted murder.
