Ahead of the 2015 general elections, a group, Goodluck Jonathan Group of Northern Nigeria, has solicited support for President Jonathan as he is a "sellable commodity".
Alhaji Nura Sabon-Birnai, the National Coordinator of the group, told newsmen on Saturday in Sokoto, that President Goodluck Jonathan had recorded tremendous achievements.
"So, giving Jonathan another mandate in 2015 is voting for the sustenance of his laudable programmes and policies".
He said that the president was truly committed to taking Nigeria to greater heights.
"The epoch-making achievements of the president are tangible across the country.
"There is no gain-saying the fact that Jonathan is an unrivalled achiever and he deserves to be re-elected by Nigerians, contrary to the cynicisms of some doubting Thomas", the national coordinator stressed.
Sabon-Birni stated that the group’s 760,000 registered members spread across the 19 northern states had since begun serious campaigns for President Jonathan.
He urged Nigerians to set aside religious and ethnic affinities and vote for merit in 2015.
"We believe in the sustenance of peace and unity in Nigeria, and these should be sustained beyond 2015.
"Jonathan is the messiah that Nigerians need in 2015 and he should not be totally blamed for all the problems of Nigeria, including the insurgency", Sabon-Birni added.( NAN)
