Prominent Zambian opposition leader, Hakainde Hichilema, is being questioned at a police station in the capital, Lusaka, for alleged breach of public order.

His supporters came out in huge numbers to show solidarity with him. There was also a strong police presence, the BBC reports.

Mr Hichilema is accused of failing to obtain police permission before visiting markets and homes last week, BBC reporter adds. He is expected to challenge President Edgar Lungu in elections due next year.
