Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2015 election, General Mohammadu Buhari, on Tuesday, disclosed that his support base, Buhari Support Organisation, has been able to generate about ₦54 million for his presidential ambition.
The fund, according to him, was generated by the organisation through a crowd funding project he launched to bankroll his election campaigns.
Briefing newsmen in Abuja on the activities of the support group, General Buhari said “so far, so good, we have received donation of ₦54,415,386.70 through direct deposit and sales of cards to the FirstBank account number: 2026724405.
“As I promised during the take-off that I will take responsibility of the account, we are here today to give you an update on the progress made so far.
“Currently, 82 support groups have been registered under the Buhari Support Organisations, with over 475,796 coordinators and total membership in the region of 8,492,226 across the length and breadth of this country.
“We intend to use the registration and donation cards to enlist the members of the groups as volunteer change agents and also capture the spatial distribution of our donors,” he said.
