It was reliably gathered that the victim, who lived with her seven year old son, was understood to have committed suicide for a reason which the police were yet to unravel.
Reports said the deceased had on the fateful day, Monday November 10, 2014 sent her son out to buy something for her while she brought out a bottle containing kerosene and allegedly doused herself and set herself on fire.
It was learnt that the son on his return saw her mother struggling with the resultant blaze and immediately raised an alarm which attracted other neighbors. They were said to have made frantic effort to save her life but was already severely burnt.
The police in the area were consequently alerted and rushed to the scene where they photographed the charred remains of the deceased and deposited the corpse at the local mortuary.
A competent police source who confirmed the unfortunate incident said the reason for the suicide was yet to be established. He said some unconfirmed reports in the community hinted that the deceased was suspected to be mentally unbalanced at times.
According to him, the theory of insanity is still being investigated but wonders how an insane person could send her only son out and took to suicide mission.
