» Nigeria Police Chief Ignores Senate, Showdown Brewing
The newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, has set himself up for a serious battle with the men in the National Assembly. Few days after he shunned the House of Representatives' summon, the IGP has also ignored the summon by the Senate that he must appear on Tuesday to defend his orders to his men.
Consequently, the Senate angrily kicked out the representative of the Police IG at its hearing yesterday insisting he must appear in person.
The IGP had delegated a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) to represent him at the briefing before the Senators but the DIG was asked to leave the Senate Chamber by the angry lawmakers.
Will the IGP do the needful or is he ready for a showdown with the lawmakers?
