<b>ABUJA, NIGERIA - President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday July 13 sacked and replaced the Service Chiefs he inherited from the immediate past president Goodluck Jonathan. </b></div>

The appointment of Major-General Tukur Buratai as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS) would lead to possible retirements in the Army because there is a difference of five years in hierarchy between the former Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Kenneth Minimah, and his successor.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Apart from a few members of the Course 25 who are still in the service, there are also other officers from Courses 26, 27, 28 and 29. Buratai’s emergence may affect some of them.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Investigations revealed that about 30 major generals who are either senior in hierarchy or who belonged to the same course as Buratai may retire from the service.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is the tradition of the Army that a senior is not left in the service to salute his subordinate.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A source, who confided in one of our correspondents, said that not all the major generals in that hierarchy would go as some of them who are junior to the Chief of Defence Staff, who is of Course 26, could be moved to the Defence Headquarters and other tri-service institutions of the Armed Forces.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, the situation could be different in the Nigerian Navy where the new chief, Rear Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas, who belonged to Course 26 and the predecessor, Vice Admiral Usman Jibrin, of Course 24, have only a few officers between them.</div>

It was learnt that about five senior officers between the two were retired recently thereby giving the indication that the appointment might not culminate in retirements in the Navy.</div>

A security source said on Monday that all those who belonged to the same Course as the former Air Chief would retire with him, except Air Vice Marshal Monday Morgan, who has been appointed the new Chief of Defence Intelligence.</div>

Six Nigerian nationals were extradited from South Africa to Gulfport, Mississippi, to face a nine-count federal indictment in the Southern District of Mississippi alleging various Internet fraud schemes.  A total of 20 defendants are charged in this case.</div>

Assistant Attorney General Leslie R. Caldwell of the Justice Department's Criminal Division and U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis of the Southern District of Mississippi made the announcement.</div>

<b>Oladimeji Seun Ayelotan</b>, 30; <b>Rasaq Aderoju Raheem</b>, 31; <b>Olusegun Seyi Shonekan</b>, 33; <b>Taofeeq Olamilekan Oyelade</b>, 30; <b>Olufemi Obaro Omoraka</b>, 26; and <b>Anuoluwapo Segun Adegbemigun</b>, 39, are charged along with 15 others in an Oct. 7, 2014, indictment with conspiracy to commit mail fraud, wire fraud, bank fraud, conspiracy to commit identity theft, use of unauthorized account access devices, theft of U.S. government funds and conspiracy to commit money laundering.</div>

The charges stem from the defendants alleged participation in numerous Internet-based complex financial fraud schemes, including romance scams, re-shipping scams, fraudulent check scams and work-at-home scams, as well as bank, financial and credit card account takeovers.</div>

According to the allegations in the indictment, from as early as 2001, the defendants identified and solicited potential victims through online dating websites and work-at-home opportunities.</div>

In some instances, the defendants allegedly carried on fictitious online romantic relationships with victims for the purpose of using the victims to further certain objectives of the conspiracy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

For example, the indictment alleges that the defendants convinced victims to ship and receive merchandise purchased with stolen personal identifying information (PII) and compromised credit card and banking information, to deposit counterfeit checks, and to transfer proceeds of the conspiracy via wire, U.S. mail or express delivery services.</div>

To date, defendants <b>Teslim Olarewaju Kiriji</b>, 30; <b>Olutoyin Ogunlade</b>, 41; and <b>Dennis Brian Ladden</b>, 75, have been convicted of offenses relating to their roles in the schemes.</div>

Defendants <b>Susan Anne Villeneuve</b>, 49; and <b>Genoveva Farfan</b>, 45; <b>Sesan Olumide Farin</b>, 40; <b>Femi Alexander Mewase</b>, 44; <b>Rhulane Fionah Hlungwane</b>, 24; and <b>Adekunle Adefila</b>, 40, are awaiting trial.</div>

The United States is seeking extradition from Nigeria of defendants <b>Kayode Bamidele</b>, <b>Ajayi Oluwaseyi Stephen</b> and <b>Emmanuel Adeniyi Osokomaiya</b>.  Defendants <b>Gabriel Oludare Adeniran</b> and <b>Oduntan Sikiru Lawani</b> remain fugitives.</div>

The charges and allegations in the indictment are merely accusations.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.</div>

This case is being investigated by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service.  Significant assistance was also provided by the Criminal Division's Office of International Affairs, the HSI Cyber Crimes Center, HSI Attachés in Pretoria and Dakar, U.S. Marshals Service's International Investigations Branch and the Southern District of Mississippi, the South African Police Service (SAPS) Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigation (DPCI) Electronic Crimes Unit, the SAPS Interpol Extradition Unit, the South African National Prosecution Authority, and the South African Department of Justice and Constitutional Development.</div>

<b>ABUJA, NIGERIA - A former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday said there is no truth in reports that he has fallen apart with President Muhammadu Buhari because he could not get what he has demanded from the party.</b></div>

He said contrary to the speculations, he remains loyal to the President.</div>

Tinubu said this in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after joining some All Progressives Congress (APC) chiefs for the breaking of Ramadan fast with the President at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.</div>

The APC chief added: </div>

<b>ABUJA, NIGERIA - President Muhammadu Buhari has directed law enforcement agencies to step up their efforts to curb the menace of pirates in Nigeria's entertainment industry so that artistes can enjoy the fruits of their labour.</b></div>

President Buhari gave the directive after receiving a briefing from the  Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan and her Directors Tuesday in Abuja. </div>

"Nollywood is making progress. We should work with them. Unless they are backed, they will be ruined by pirates who want to reap where they have not sowed.</div>

In a photo shoot that looked more appropriate for Halloween than for their upcoming nuptials in October, the pair from Singapore, were pictured sitting on and even lying inside the coffin.</div>

Ms Tay said she had been inspired to chose bizarre theme by her and her fiance's jobs and insisted that death had played a 'central and important part' in the pictures.</div>

"A large part of the shoot was definitely inspired by our jobs," Ms Tay told the <b>BBC</b>. "Wedding shoots are often staged at places which bring the most memories. For us, work plays such a huge part of our lives so we wanted to do it in style."</div>

Mr Cheng admitted he had been surprised by his fiance's unusual theme but agreed it suited their careers.</div>

Despite the ghoulish theme, the couple look stunning in the wedding photos, with the bride-to-be in a floor length red dress and the groom in a tuxedo as they snuggled in the coffin together in a waterway park in Singapore. In another shot, Ms Tay donned a wedding dress to pose next to the casket.</div>
