A report monitored on <i>Nigerian Tribune</i> says President Goodluck Jonathan, on Thursday, met with the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), some governors and leaders of the House of Representatives on the defection of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).</div>

However, no official statement was released after the meeting, which ostensibly deliberated on how the party may react to the defection of the speaker elected under PDP.</div>

Those present at the meeting included the national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu; chairman of PDP Governors’ Forum and Akwa-Ibom State governor, Godswill Akpabio; governors of Bayelsa, Benue, Gombe, and Enugu, Henry Seriake-Dickson, Gabriel Suswam, Ibrahim Dankwambo, and Sullivan Chime, respectively.</div>

After nearly a year of bitter relations, President Goodluck Jonathan and the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, met Thursday in Abuja and reconciled differences that once drove both men to the extremes of their offices reports <i>Premium Times</i>.</div>

Sanusi, a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was fired by the President in February after accusing the government of diverting $20 billion oil revenues.</div>

The government denied the claim, and in turn, accused Mr. Sanusi of "financial recklessness".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
After leaving office, Mr. Sanusi was appointed the Emir of Kano in June, assuming one of the most powerful traditional stools in Nigeria.</div>

His appointment by Kano State's Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, a member of the opposition All Progressives Congress, was opposed by the Presidency which ordered the Emir’s office blockaded for days.</div>

The emir reportedly initiated peace moves, and the two men met for the first time in July during the breaking of the Muslim fast, a yearly routine in which the President meets top government officials who are Muslims and other prominent Islamic leaders in the country.</div>

<i>Premium Times</i>' sources say Thursday's meeting was essentially for reconciliation between the two sides.</div>

The Emir was accompanied to the meeting by all senior members of the Kano Emirate Council, while Vice President Namadi Sambo, the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, Attorney General, Mohammed Adoke, and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Aminu Wali also attended the meeting.</div>

Officials at the meeting say the President urged peace, and announced that he had nothing against the Emir and that he had forgotten everything that happened.</div>

A couple with five children was recently blessed with a set of triplets. The couple, now with eight kids - five boys and three girls - never envisaged going that far in child bearing. But since circumstance had made it so, Mr. & Mrs. Ifeani Benjamin Amadu, from Ukpo in Dunukofia Local Government Area of Anambra State, have no option but to accept their fate.Mrs. Amadu told our correspondent that three months into her pregnancy, she had gone for scan only to be told that she was carrying three babies in her womb, a revelation that threw her into fright. Soon after she was delivered of the babies at Ajeromi General Hospital, Ajegunle, Lagos, on Saturday, October 27, 2014, the woman and her husband found themselves in a tight corner. They had no money to offset their hospital bills, which stood at ₦150,000.</div>

Mrs. Amadu, while narrating her experiences during and after her pregnancy, pointed out that it was a serious battle. “The pregnancy was not business as usual," she began. "At a point, my whole body became too heavy that I could not do even very common things. I could neither sleep well nor walk freely. Also, bending and bathing were tough for me. In fact, it was as if I was carrying excess load.”</div>

She told <i>Daily Sun</i>, however, that all the problems disappeared immediately after she was delivered of the babies. People kept trooping to the hospital to see the bundles of joy. It was discovered that the triplets were the first to be delivered in the hospital this year.</div>

Though she had a safe delivery and her triplets were in sound health, paying her hospital bills and taking care of the triplets have become a daunting task. Following failure of the couple to foot their hospital bill more than two weeks after delivery, the triplets and their mother could not be discharged.</div>

Unfortunately, Mrs. Amadu, a National Certificate of Education (NCE) holder and a teacher in a private school earns a very lean salary. Her income and that of her husband are nowhere enough for them to cater for the delivery. "I could not save enough for this delivery because my salary is poor," she said. "I tried to get a job in a public school as a teacher, but none came my way. So I decided to manage with the one that I have right now. My husband too planned as much as he could for the task ahead, but we never knew that things would work out this way.  Unfortunately, earlier before my delivery, robbers visited us and carted away some money that my husband had planned to invest in a little business. So, that is why we have found ourselves in this tensed situation."</div>

Mrs. Amadu wants financial support from men and women of goodwill who she believes would have a share in the special blessings being brought by the triplets. "At the moment, we cannot pay the hospital bill due to our severe financial constraints. We are therefore calling on men and women of goodwill like Governors Wille Obiano, Rochas Okorocha, Babatunde Raji Fashola, corporate bodies and other groups and individuals to come to our aid so that we can leave the hospital. I am tired of staying here; I want to go home with my babies," she said.</div>

Her husband, Mr. Ifeani Amadu, also expressed his feelings. "We have been married for 14 years, and since that time, my wife has been fruitful. In fact, we had closed child bearing after four children. But the pregnancies continued to come. After having five children, we never planned having another, yet the sixth came. As a child of God, I have been feeling so bad to encourage abortion or family planning. But now, we have been forced to do it."</div>

He believed that the triplets would serve as a point of contact for others. He described the situation, as a serious one and called on Nigerians to come to the rescue of his family. "I have been thinking about how to get out of this situation. My wife and the triplets have spent close to three weeks in the hospital because I have no money to pay their bill. I am appealing to those who are touched by what my family is going through to assist us financially so that we could pay the hospital bill and cater for the babies too."</div>

A report monitored on <i style="font-weight: bold;">Sahara Reporters </i>says suspected members of the dreaded <i>Boko Haram</i> terrorist sect entered Mubi town in Adamawa State today and took control of the Army Headquarters of the 234 Battalion in the town.</div>

The troops guarding the barracks reportedly initially exchanged fire with the terrorists but fled after they realized they were outnumbered by the militants and their heavy firepower.</div>

In a related development, the sect members are reported to have attacked Uba and Hildi towns and other locations in Borno and Adamawa states this morning. According to residents of the villages, the sect men arrived in the early hours, shooting at them, burning buildings and forcefully took away their food stuffs.</div>

Africa has its first white Head of State since apartheid after the death of the charismatic Zambian president Michael Sata nicknamed <i>King Cobra</i>.</div>

Vice president Guy Scott was named the country's acting leader today ahead of a presidential election in three months to formally replace Michael Sata, who died last night aged 77.</div>

The <i>CNN</i> reports that Scott became vice president three years ago. It's unclear, however, whether he can run for president in the elections. The nation's constitution says a candidate's parents must have been born in Zambia; his were not.</div>

Scott was born in 1944 in Livingstone, Northern Rhodesia, which later became Zambia after independence from Britain.</div>

Shortly after his graduation from Cambridge University and University of Sussex with a degree in economics and a doctorate in cognitive science, he returned home and worked for the finance ministry.</div>

He later took a break from the ministry and ventured into wheat and strawberry farming. But politics wooed him back in in 1990, when he was elected to chair the nation's agriculture committee.</div>

His father was a member of parliament for the capital of Lusaka before independence.</div>

The last white leader on the African continent was South Africa's last apartheid president, FW de Klerk, before Nelson Mandela famously won the country's first true democratic elections in 1994.</div>

Zambia is mourning the death of Sata, a charismatic, chain-smoking father of eight who rose from being a British railway porter through decades of hard politics to become the country's president.</div>
