<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>A sleeping woman woke in the night to discover her 14-year-old son was raping her, a court heard.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
She initially thought she might be dreaming, but shouted and screamed on realising the "enormity of the situation", it is alleged. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Preston Crown Court also heard that the youngster, who has ADHD and is on medication, had been having behavioural problems and some years ago had been in the habit of climbing into bed with his mother.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The boy - from the Blackpool area, now aged 15, and who cannot be named for legal reasons - denies a charge of rape last year.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The court heard the woman had been out for a drink the night before the alleged attack and that, although she did not consume a lot of alcohol, it went to her head because she might have been drinking quickly, <b><a href="http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11571284/Boy-14-raped-his-sleeping-mother-court-hears.html">The Telegraph</a></b> reports.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Francis McEntee, prosecuting, told the court: "The allegation in this case is that the defendant raped his mother while she was asleep. The factual basis of this case is that he was in his mother's bed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The issue is not any assertion of consent, or belief of consent. It is the prosecution's assertion there was penetration and the defendant's denial of that allegation".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The prosecution said the woman had been asleep before waking and realising the "enormity of the situation, that her son was in the process of having sex with her".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The woman shouted and screamed and, soon after, was frantic, the court was told. Another family member asked her "Are you sure? Are you sure?" She responded by saying "I didn't dream it. I didn't dream it".</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The court also heard that as a child, the boy used to get into his mother's bed, but that had stopped some years ago.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr McEntee added: "The defendant's account is that his bed was uncomfortable, there was damage to the bottom sheet, so he had gone in and lain in bed with his mother."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He also told the jury: "you will hear his acknowledgement that his mother was naked, bar the brief underwear and you will hear his admission that she lay on her side and he was lying with his arm around her."</div>
<br />

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>After so much silence about her crashed marriage, the Edo born actress Faithia Balogun has finally spoken about her marriage in an interview with <i>City People</i>.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Excerpts:</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>What's your relationship with Saidi Balogun currently? </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He is my friend, my kids father and also my mentor. He taught me so much, and he is going to remain my best friend.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Why do you still bear his name?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Why should I drop the name? I have 2 beautiful kids, Khalid and Aliyah Balogun. So tell me why I need to drop Balogun.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How would you best describe yourself? </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am a very shy person so, sometimes when I am outside I dont want to talk to people, this is because am very shy. Though I'm into movies, but I'm very shy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Lot of stories emanated that you actually had a relationship with the owner of Corporate Pictures, how true is that?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I dont have any relationship with Corporate Pictures except that I work for him. I work for Corporate Pictures.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>He exclusively produces all your movies. Why?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yes. My first movie was produced by him and he is still producing my movies and he would remain my marketer. When you have a business relationship and he is doing you well, I see no reason why I should leave him because everyone is saying that I am dating him. We have no other relationship than being business partners and that is it basically.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>What actually led to the breakup?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I don't want to talk about my relationship with my children's father. It's a thing of the past. Like I said earlier Saidi and I are best friends and it's going to be like that.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Were you actually divorced?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nothing happened between us.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Is Faithia Balogun still married?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yes, I am married</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>To who?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Saidi Balogun</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>There has been a story making waves that Saidi Balogun told you to drop his name. What's your take on that?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I can say that he would never say that I should drop his name.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>We gathered that Saidi Balogun is now married, are you aware of his marriage?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I don't think so. I'm just hearing it for the first time. But Saidi is a muslim, he can decide to marry 4 or 20 wives but I still remain his first wife. They all can come in, it doesn't matter.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>In an interview we had with him about his marriage, he did not refute it.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He is a guy.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Who has been responsible for the upkeep of your kids?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I am a very hard working woman, I have my career. So I am in charge of my kids and Saidi Balogun is also in charge.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Most people feel without Saidi Balogun there is no Fathia Balogun, what’s your take on that?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It's a basic thing that a man would build a woman and a woman would a man. So, if they feel so, I don't care what people say. He taught me so much in the film aspect and I will always respect him for that, but I don't think that's an issue.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>What's the most painful thing that has happened to you in the past few years?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I would say the most painful thing is being separated from Saidi Balogun and I feel sometimes it's just destiny sometimes. You are not lucky to have what you want. If God says no, no one can say yes. I think in the past few years, that has been my most painful memory. But I am actually outgrowing it. The press didn't help me and that alone killed me.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>What is the difference between the then Faithia and the present Faithia?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Yes, I have actually learnt so much. Without anybody telling me this, I am a different Faithia now, am more calm now.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>Six Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) officials and 16 others from some commercial banks are to face trial for alleged ₦8 billion fraud, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said yesterday.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The suspects, the agency alleged, stole and recirculated defaced and mutilated currencies.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said: "The suspects drawn from various business units of the apex bank are to be arraigned by the anti-graft agency before a Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, from Tuesday June 2, 2015 to Thursday June 4, 2015.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"They include Patience Okoro Eye (Abuja), Afolabi Olufemi (Lagos), Kolawole Babalola (Ibadan), Olaniran Muniru Adeola (Ibadan), Fatai Yusuf Adekunle (Head of Security, CBN Ibadan) and Ilori Adekunle Sunday (Akure).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The remaining 16 suspects are drawn from various commercial banks who were found to have conspired with the CBN executives to swing the heist.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"All the suspects who are currently in the custody of the EFCC are now ruing the day they literally allowed greed and craze for materialism to becloud their sense of judgment and responsibility, when they elected to help themselves to tons of defaced Naira notes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Instead of carrying out the statutory instruction to destroy the currency, they substituted it with newspapers neatly cut to Naira sizes and proceeded to recycle the defaced and mutilated currency.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The fraud is partly to blame for the failure of government monetary policy over the years as currency mop-up exercises by the apex bank failed to check the inflationary pressure on the economy."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The commission gave further details on how the fraud was perpetrated by the suspects.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The statement added: "The lid on the scam, which is widely suspected to have gone on unchecked for years, was blown on November 3, 2014 via a petition to the EFCC alleging that over ₦6,575,549,370 was cornered and discreetly recycled by light fingered top executives of the CBN at the Ibadan branch.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The suspects, who were members of the Briquetting Panel, plotted their way to infamy on September 8, 2014 while carrying out a Briquetting exercise at the CBN Branch, Ibadan.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"In banking parlance, Briquetting is disintegration and destruction of counted and audited dirty notes. By this practice, depositor banks usually take mutilated notes to the CBN in exchange for fresh notes equivalent of the amount deposited.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The depositor banks, in this instance, are Zenith Bank, FCMB, Wema Bank, Access Bank, First Bank, Skye Bank, Ecobank and Sterling Bank</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"But while carrying out the assignment, the team was alleged to have found one of the currency boxes filled only with old newspapers rather than 20 bundles of ₦1000 notes.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A similar case, according to investigation, had been discovered on September 22, 2014 when a box that was supposed to contain ₦500 notes to the tune of ₦5billion was filled with old newspapers.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Unlike in the past, this fraud could not be swept under the carpet, as a member of the Briquetting Panel from the Osogbo branch blew the lid on the illicit deal.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"In a statement, the informant stated that the exercise was designed to last between August 4 and 8, 2014. The 35-year-old, however, stated that she discovered a strange 'sight' while opening the third box on the second day of the exercise. It was a discovery that beat her ken.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"She added that she confronted the other members of the panel, including Eye, who was the Head of the Briquetting Panel; Treasury Assistant; Coordinator and Head of Security at CBN Ibadan, who all assured her that they would look into it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"But she later found out that it was all a ruse. She said she later found out that Eye not only maintained sealed lips over the matter but omitted it from her report.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"A five-count charge awaits the suspects."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>President Muhammadu Buhari is set to sack service chiefs any time from now, <i>New Telegraph </i>learnt at the weekend. </b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, the shake-up in the top hierarchy of the military will not affect the police as the president is said to be disposed to retaining Mr. Solomon Arase who was appointed as the Inspector General of Police in the twilight of the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The service chiefs to be affected in the purge of the high military command are Chief of Defence Staff, Air Chief Marshall Alex Badeh; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Kenneth Obiah Minimah; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Adesola Amosu and Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Usman Jibrin. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"All the service chiefs are going. In fact, they are gone. They are only waiting for the president to announce their sack. Even most of them have packed out their personal effects in their offices. Only the IGP will be retained", a source said. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But the source added that the delay in the sack of the service chiefs was due to a disagreement among political associates of the president over the choice of their replacements. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The president has drawn a list of his service chiefs, but when some political associates of the C-in-C saw it, they kicked against it.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The composition was tilted towards certain geographical zone. Hopefully, President Buhari will sack the service chiefs next week on or before his return from the G7 meeting holding in Berlin, Germany between June 7 and 9", the source added. <i>New Telegraph </i>learnt that though Jonathan hurriedly appointed and confirmed Arase following the sack of Mr. Suleiman Abba after the former president's loss at the March 28 presidential election, Buhari is said to be disposed to retaining the police boss.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Arase was appointed on April 21, 2015 and confirmed on May 12. Since 1999, each government always appoints new IGP. When former President Olusegun Obasanjo took over power on May 29, 1999, he appointed Musiliu Smith as IG to replace Mr. Ibrahim Coomassie. The late President Umaru Yar'Adua appointed Mike Okiro as IG in June 2007 shortly after he took over power.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Okiro succeeded Sunday Ehindero. However, the expectation was that Buhari would follow tradition and drop Arase for a new IG. The likely retention of Arase is based on a number of factors. One, he is considered to be highly professional and non-partisan.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Two, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are comfortable with his style of leadership and are not opposed to his retention. Third, he is from Edo State where the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, hails from. More so, his governor, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, was said to have supported his retention. Fourth, Arase, 59, who enlisted in the police in 1981, has only one more year to spend in the service before he is due for retirement. </div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"President Buhari will retain Arase as IGP because of his professional conduct and the fact that he is due for retirement in 2016", the source said.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>The Nigeria U-20 team, the Flying Eagles, were beaten 4-2 by their Brazilian counterparts in their first match of the ongoing FIFA U-20 tournament in New Zealand played early Monday morning.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The African Champions started quite poorly against the South Americans and they were already behind four minutes into the game as Gabriel Jesus profited from poor defending in the Nigeria back-line to put Brazil in the lead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Isaac Success however made history as he became the first Nigerian player ever to score against Brazil at the FIFA U-20 World Cup as he provided the equaliser for the Flying Eagles in the 10th minute.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
From then, both teams matched themselves fire for fire with some end-end action as Brazil tried to regain the lead and Nigeria also gunning for same mission.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In the end it was Nigeria that got in front when Musa Yahaya wriggled and turned through the Brazil defence before firing a thunder bolt into the Brazil net to make scores 2-1.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nigeria’s lead was however short-lived as Judivan pulled Brazil level minutes after Taiwo Awoniyi missed a glorious chance to double Nigeria’s lead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The status quo was kept through the first half as both teams returned to the dressing room all-squared at 2-2.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
While the Nigeria performance was not top notch in the first half especially in the backline, it was much worse in the second half.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Brazilians made the most of this and scored two more goals in the second period .</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Boschilia pulled the trigger just before the hour mark and goalkeeper Enaholo who had a below average performance on the day could not find any answer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The already bad situation got worse as Enaholo’s howler in the 82nd minute saw Judivan completing his brace and effectively taking the game off the reach of Nigeria as the game ended 4-2 in favour of the five-time champions.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nigeria will hope they can bounce back in their other two group games against Korea and Hungary in the days ahead.</div>
<br />
