<b>The President-elect, General Muhammadu 
Buhari (rtd) has sounded a note of warning to his family members that he
 will not use his powers as president to protect any of them who broke 
the law, as he is set to assume the leadership of the country.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />A 
family member, who attended the meeting summoned by the president-elect,
 told <a href="http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/sunday/index.php/news/20525-fight-against-corruption-buhari-reads-riot-act-to-family-members"><b>DAILYTRUST</b></a> reporter at the weekend that the General was very firm and 
solemn when he spoke to his ward in his Daura country home in Katsina 
State.</div>
<br /><div style="text-align: justify;">
General
 Buhari addressed the members of the family, comprising of his children 
and other extended family members who look up to him, after he won the 
March 28 presidential election. He called for the solemn assembly in 
between his various meetings with well-wishers from various parts of the
 country who thronged his country home in order to congratulate him.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />According
 to the member who spoke to our reporter, Buhari  made it very clear to 
his family that he would not protect them if they violated the country’s
 law, harping on the anti-corruption mantra, which is one of the reasons
 why he received massive votes during the presidential polls.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br />Sunday 
Trust</b> learnt further that he admonished his family members to seek 
meaningful means of earning a living, giving his life story as an 
example of how one could start life from a humble beginning and achieve 
great success in life.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />The president warned them against engaging in 
acts that would tarnish the image of the incoming administration, adding
 that family members who have no  legitimate business or who are not 
invited to the Aso Rock would be allowed  into the Presidential Villa.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />He
 also told them that he would not condone laziness from any member of 
the family. He advised them to work hard to earn a living, saying he 
worked very hard to become what he is today.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
  <br />He reminded them that
 Nigeria is a great country with numerous opportunities, adding that 
only the lazy ones would wallow in poverty.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />As a military Head of State, General Buhari became popular for his fight against corruption 
through the instrument of War Against Indiscipline. During that regime, a
 lot of corrupt Nigerians were arrested and jailed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />It would be 
recalled that during the campaigns for the presidential election, 
General Buhari, who is known for his zero tolerance to corruption and 
wastage of public funds, also promised to scrap the Office of the First 
Lady, though his wife, Aisha became involved in the campaign for his 
election.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />The president-elect, who will be sworn in on May 29, said 
that none of his family members would accompany him to Abuja without 
formal invitation. He, however, said they would have enough time with 
him whenever he is in Daura, adding that Aso Villa is meant for those 
who are ready to work, not idle family members.</div>

<br />Speaking in an 
earlier interview, the Vice-President-elect, Professor Yemi Osinbajo had
 said General Buhari would not spare anyone who is engaged in 
corruption, not even his family members.</div>

<br />Professor Osinbajo had said,
 “On the various issue of corruption, what General Buhari has said 
categorically is that as far as he is concerned, the day he is sworn-in 
as president, he would have drawn a line. Anybody who runs foul of the 
law, anything that is been investigated before will continue as it is.</div>

<br />“If
 you are found to be corrupt, you will receive the consequence, no 
matter who you are. Whether you are his brother, sister, his friends 
there will be consequences. That is what he has said and I think that is
 in line with the position of the party.”</div>

<b>After weeks of consultation and character evaluation, President-elect General Muhammadu Buhari has finally short-listed 18 persons across Nigeria’s six geo-political zones, who will make up his transition committee ahead of the May 29 handover date.</b><br />
<br />
Although the transition committee to be headed by Mallam Ahmed Joda will be made up of three persons from each of the six geo-political zones, sources said the South-west however has more representation (four persons) indicating the weight and influence of its leader in the zone, Senator Bola Tinubu.<br />
<br />
The sources further hinted that apart from Buhari who decided the choice of persons selected across the zones, Tinubu also had a major and significant input in the list, in addition to also exceeding the regional quota of three persons per zone.<br />
<br />
The committee which, according to sources, will be inaugurated on Monday or sometime next week comes with terms of reference for members, chief of which is liaising with members of the committee put together by the Jonathan administration for smooth handover.<br />
<br />
Apart from Joda, who has been selected as the Chairman and Dr. Doyin Salami (SW) as Vice-chairman, the committee also has Mallam Adamu Adamu (NW) as its Secretary.<br />
<br />

Aside liaising with government’s committee, the terms of reference also includes studying and working on the handover notes preparatory to May 29.<br />

Other terms include designing the blueprint that would assist the Buhari government take off smoothly with a clear understanding of the challenges at hand.<br />

Responding to the calibre of persons likely to make up his transition committee a few weeks ago, Buhari told <b>ThisDay</b> in an interview: “We have started discussing about it. Personally, I will make sure that it is not too big because if it is big, they will start thinking of how to influence the choice of ministers either for themselves or those they want to be ministers.<br />
<br />
“But my hope and my idea is to get knowledgeable and experienced technocrats that are really patriotic to study the handing over notes by ministries and make recommendations. I want them to be completely detached people who are patriotic Nigerians; who are knowledgeable and experienced.”<br />

<b>Senator Hope Uzodinma of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been arrested for thumb-printing ballot papers at a private residence during the gubernatorial election rerun in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo State.</b><br />
<br />
Arrested alongside Mr. Uzodinma were his uncle and elder sister.<br />
<br />
However, while his uncle and sister were detained, Mr. Uzodimma was released on personal recognition.<br />
<br />
A top police source involved in providing security in the area told <b><a href="http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/182070-imo-election-senator-hope-uzodinma-of-pdp-relatives-arrested-for-fraud.html">PREMIUM TIMES</a></b> that soon after his release, Mr. Uzodinma’s supporters in the area set bonfires on the road to prevent the police from taking his relations away.<br />
<br />
The police had to call for reinforcement from the army and officials of the secret police, the State Security Service before the bonfires and hoodlums were cleared and his relations carted away to be detained in the state capital, Owerri.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, the rerun election in the local government was almost marred by pockets of violence and irregularities.<br />
<br />
At Oru East Local Government Area, which has majority of the Polling Units where rerun election were held, some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) were caught thumb-printing ballot papers in favour of one of the political parties.<br />
<br />
Also arrested were fake INEC officials who posed as Returning Officers at the collation centre.<br />
<br />
The Edo State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mike Igini, who was among the INEC team deployed for the election, said the INEC officials were arrested at Umumma primary school Ward 10 Polling Unit 008, Polling Unit 003 and three others.<br />
<br />
“Myself accompanied by the Assistant Inspector General of Police and Commissioner of Police have arrested poll officials in Oru East involved in mass thumb-printing and are now taken to Owerri.<br />
<br />
“Upon my suspicion, an imposter, who claimed to be lNEC staff without proof, acting as a presiding officer, l ordered his arrest and it was effected by the Police”.<br />
<br />
At Ozuh-Omuma, an agent of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bernars Nwaokoro, was shot by thugs and the ballot box of his unit hijacked.<br />
<br />
Also, one Rex Anunobi was kidnapped from his home but was rescued by a team of Policemen led by one of the visiting Assistant Inspector Generals of Police to the state.<br />

<b>Shortly after defending why his prophecies on the General elections failed to come to pass, Apostle Suleiman in an interview with <i><a href="http://www.punchng.com/feature/hotseat/i-personally-told-jonathan-to-concede-defeat-apostle-johnson-suleman/">The Punch</a></i> made a disturbing statement concerning the president elect, Muhammadu Buhari.</b><br />

“Let me say this to you. In the next six months, people may stone Buhari. The reason I’m saying this is because the expectation is too high.<br />
<br />
"Nigerians expect Buhari to put gold on their tables. Two, the large chunk of followership Buhari has are youths and young people and they are impatient. Young people don’t believe in progressive change, they want change.<br />
<br />
"When they say change, they see a new picture. And Buhari has been talking from the two sides of the mouth. During campaign, he told us Boko Haram would be a thing of the past. Now, you are President-elect, you are saying people shouldn’t expect a miracle. Are you a pastor? If I wanted a miracle worker, won’t I bring a Mallam or a miracle worker?<br />

"When you were being voted for, we were not voting for a pastor, so don’t tell us about miracles. Like I said, Jonathan will be seen as a hero very soon because that’s the Nigerian story. Anybody who they feel is not doing well, get him out. The next few minutes, they miss this person. If by September, there is still a blink in power, people will start abusing Buhari. You said you were going to do this.<br />

"Two, who are Buhari’s footmen, the large chunk are ex-PDP people and of course you know, many are still defecting. Nigerian politicians are the most shameless people (I know); they can’t bear hunger. They are defecting now to lobby for offices. If you should check the people around the man, it gives you an idea of where the man is heading. If you check the agenda, listen to their campaign, it wasn’t about issues, it was about personality. Change this man! And I wanted us to talk about what the issues are, brainstorm to make things better.<br />

"I heard he had a five-hour meeting behind closed doors with President Jonathan. He has now seen the reality of how deep the issues are and it has now dawned on him that the man sitting there was actually managing to survive. That is one thing about leadership. When the ball is passed to you, you realise it’s deeper than you think. So I do not see change in Nigeria. The only change I see is we have a breath of fresh air, a new government. To say there will be instant change in Nigeria, I doubt. We are praying as Christians and believers. It doesn’t matter what the enemy is trying to do in Nigeria, as believers, we know that the will of God will be done", he stated.<br />
