<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>President Goodluck Jonathan admitted Friday that he did not speak on telephone with the King of Morocco, Mohammed VI, as claimed last week by Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Ministry, an apparently false claim that sparked a diplomatic spat between the two countries with Morocco recalling its Ambassador.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The president ordered a full investigation into the scandal and promised to sanction the foreign affairs official who made the false claim, a statement by presidential spokesperson, Reuben Abati, said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mr. Jonathan was "shocked, surprised and highly embarrassed by the controversy that has erupted over whether or not he had a telephone conversation with His Majesty, King Mohammed VI of Morocco", the president’s office said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Morocco worsened Tuesday after the North African country recalled its ambassador from Abuja, following the telephone call row.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The controversy began after Morocco revealed last week that its leader rejected a request from Mr. Jonathan for a telephone conversation.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Moroccan Foreign Ministry said the request was a devious move by Mr. Jonathan to curry electoral favour than a genuine diplomatic move.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The request by Nigerian authorities for a phone conversation between HM King Mohammed VI and Nigerian President was refused by the Monarch who deemed it inappropriate on grounds of the upcoming elections in Nigeria,” the statement read.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
However, on Monday, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement refuting the claim of the Moroccans.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Nigerian foreign ministry claimed that King Mohammed IV of Morocco spoke to President Jonathan from France where he had gone for a visit.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also denied that the phone call was intended to confer electoral gains on Mr. Jonathan who faces a crucial electoral challenge from an invigorated opposition in two weeks.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Since the King was in France and not in Morocco, both leaders spoke extensively over the telephone on matters of mutual interest and concern that have nothing to do with the conduct of re-scheduled elections in Nigeria.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It is therefore preposterous to suggest that Mr President’s telephone call to the Moroccan monarch was intended to confer any electoral advantage on the President,” the statement read.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The North African nation responded furiously Tuesday, denying the claim by the Nigerian authorities, and recalling its ambassador from Nigeria.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The office of Mohammed VI denied the king ever spoke to the Nigerian president. It issued a statement describing Nigeria’s claim that a discussion took place between King Mohammed and President Jonathan as “unethical practices”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The statement said it wished to state in the “clearest and strongest terms” that “there has never been a phone conversation” between the two leaders.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The King’s Office categorically denies the false allegations made by Nigerian authorities about an alleged phone conversation between the Sovereign and Nigerian President,” the statement said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A statement by Reuben Abati, the spokesperson for Mr. Jonathan, said the furore generated over the matter was due “entirely to misinformation as President Jonathan has neither spoken with King Mohammed nor told anybody that he had a telephone conversation with the Moroccan Monarch”.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It is true that President Jonathan has been speaking with some African leaders to seek their support for Nigeria’s candidate for the position of President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“In continuation of his efforts in support of the candidacy of the Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina for headship of the AfDB, President Jonathan indicated that he would like to speak with the King of Morocco, the President of Algeria and the President of Egypt.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was consequently directed to make necessary contacts with the embassies of the three countries and arrange for President Jonathan to speak with their leaders.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Since that directive was given, President Jonathan has spoken with the Prime Minister of Algeria and subsequently sent Vice President Namadi Sambo to Algiers as Special Envoy to follow-up on his discussions with the Algerian Prime Minister on support for Nigeria’s candidate in the coming elections for the AfDB Presidency.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The President has, however, not yet spoken with King Mohammed VI and President Al-Sisi of Egypt as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must know.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The statement said President Jonathan has ordered the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Aminu Wali, to urgently undertake a full investigation of the claim which emanated from the Ministry that the President spoke with King Mohammed VI.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The investigation is to identify all those who were responsible for the unacceptable act of official misinformation which has resulted in an unnecessary diplomatic row with another country and national embarrassment,” the statement said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“It is also expected to unveil the motives of the culprits.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“President Jonathan has also ordered that prompt and commensurate disciplinary action be taken against the culpable person or persons.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
President Jonathan also criticised the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, which has since called for an investigation over the matter.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“While awaiting the outcome of the investigations, President Jonathan urges Nigerians to disregard the vituperations of opposition elements, who have, true to type, latched on to the regrettable faux pas as a fresh opportunity to unpatriotically denigrate the government of their country and advance their irresponsible quest for victory at any price in the coming elections,” the statement said.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Nigeria and Morocco have a history of frosty diplomatic relation due to the former’s support and recognition of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic declared by the separatist group, the Polisario Front.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Polisario Front, which is backed by Morocco’s neighbour, Algeria, seeks an independence for the Western Sahara region of Morocco, a move the Monarch has violently resisted.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>The PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, PDP-PCO Thursday took a swipe at the National leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC and former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, describing as baseless and false his claims that the PDP and the Presidency offered him the position of vice president in an Interim National Government (ING) if he would dump his party’s Presidential candidate, General Muhhamdu Buhari, retd.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to PDP, the government or the party was not in any way trying to frame Tinubu for murder and that no one from the government approached him to be the Vice President of anything, just as it described him as having an over-inflated opinion of himself.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
In a statement by the Tinubu Media Office had said, "From what can be gathered through informed sources, the PDP and Jonathan Presidency had recently tried to fracture the APC by offering Tinubu the position of Vice President in an interim government if he would agree to part company with the popular Buhari.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Once Tinubu rebuffed the offer to participate in the interim scheme, the presidency decided to change tactics. It would no longer try to entice Tinubu with sugar but would now move to silence and if necessary neutralize him."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
But in a swift reaction, the Director of Media and Publicity of PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode said: "These allegations are baseless and false. These people have become prisoners of their own delusions and they have become victims of their horrific and terrifying hallucinations.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"We are not in the least bit interested in the formation of an interim government and we are even less interested in participating in any contraption in which Bola Tinubu would play any role.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Those that killed Funso Williams know who they are and it is very clear that his spirit is now tormenting his murderers. Let them be fully aware of this: whoever it was that killed Funso Williams will suffer the judgment of God both in this life and in the life hereafter. God would see to that.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It is not true that anyone is trying to frame Tinubu for murder and it is not true that anyone from our government approached him to be the Vice President of anything. It is clear that he has an overinflated opinion of himself and he is suffering from the most extreme form and manifestation of paranoia.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The man is hiding from his own shadow and the fear of his party losing at the polls later this month is giving him sleepless nights. Whether he, Buhari and their APC like it or not, they will be devastated at the polls and they would suffer a crushing and irreparable defeat.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"The everlasting confusion that would ensue in their camp after suffering this defeat will never be forgotten. The truth is this: the dementia in which Tinubu is suffering from has come as a consequence of his numerous sins. He should settle all these issues with God and leave us alone."</div>

I'll Quit Rather Than Insult Buhari - Mu'azu

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>The recent murmurings within the Nigeria's ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] over the supposed abrupt resignation of its National Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Mu’azu may have not been completely false as reported by the PDP in their press release earlier yesterday (Thursday March 12, 2015).</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Information available to <b><a href="http://247ureports.com/i-wont-insult-buhari-instead-i-quit-muazu-pdp-chair-to-jonathan-campaign-team/">247ureports</a> </b>obtained from a competent source near the PDP National Chairman indicates that the National Chairman had announced his resignation to the leadership of the Jonathan presidential campaign team following a heated 'argument' over the new campaign strategy adopted by the PDP presidential campaign team and his unwillingness to play along.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Available information reveals that Mu'azu was asked to resign from the seat of PDP National Chairman because he refused to join “the train of those insulting Buhari”. And, according to our source who spoke to Mu'azu yesterday, the embattled PDP Chairman was willing to walk away from the seat if the PDP insists on having him resign over his unwillingness to be critical of Buhari. “If PDP wants me out, I am ready to throw the cap away”, he was quoted to have said</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The members of the presidential campaign team had agreed to pep up their campaign strategy in a manner to go after the integrity of the All Progressive Congress [APC] presidential candidate, General Mohammadu Buhari and to expose the possible skeletons that may exist inside his closet - but the National Chairman of the PDP who was reported to be in agreement with the frontal approach on the APC top boss, Bola Tinubu was however not in agreement with such approach being adopted for the presidential flag bearer.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"He called their bluff", said a source within the PDP National Working Committee. The PDP did not anticipate Mu'azu's eagerness to throw in the towel and accept his sack in defiance to their request of him to be critical of and vocal against Buhari.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It caught them by surprise and they had to do a retreat away from their demand for him to resign". The PDP presidential campaign team are not willing to undergo the crisis that the resignation of its National Chairman would generate. For this reason, the PDP backpedalled quickly with an apology to the National Chairman. It took the intervention of the Emir of Bauchi, Malam Adamu for the National Chairman to consider the apology tendered by the PDP presidential team.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The Emir of Bauchi had been the spiritual godfather and a significant political influence to Alhaji Mu'azu through his political career. So much so that it is believed that Adamu was responsible for Muazu’s second tenure while he served as the Governor of Bauchi State.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It is also gathered from a source within the PDP presidential campaign office in Asokoro that the National Chairman may have had other more sinister reasons for his refusal to be critical of the APC presidential candidate.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Mu'azu, according to gathered information, was in ‘closed door’ negotiations with the President over certain demands against the electoral season of 2019. Muazu had wanted commitments from President Jonathan that he would be presented as the PDP presidential candidate in 2019. He wanted the President to dump his vice president, Namadi Sambo and to endorse him for the 2019 presidential race.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
President Jonathan was reported to not having heeded to the request by the National Chairman. Instead, the President told him to play his role as the National Chairman and allow the political dice to roll naturally to the 2019 electoral season.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
This did not sit well with the National Chairman who expected to blackmail the President into signing a deal in exchange for his support. For this reason, the National Chairman resolved to remain a docile participant in the 2015 presidential campaign exercise. Security reports available to the presidency point to 'fuzzy' activities around the National Chairman pertaining to possible anti-party activities. Insiders within the presidency suspect Muazu to be hobnobbing with the opposition party in exchange for a prearranged deal. But the information has yet to be conclusively verified.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Presently, the seat of the National Chairman of PDP hangs in limbo. It remains unsure if the President will pull the trigger and let Mu'azu out of the door. What is clear, however, is the concerted efforts mounted by concerned stakeholders to ensure the unwanted crisis is muted completely. What may be irreversible is the possible stain on the continued chairmanship of Muazu - as a true PDP patriot and a Jonathan ally.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>A National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, says the recent attacks on his person were because he rejected the offer by President Goodluck Jonathan to serve as the Vice President in an Interim National Government.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tinubu said in a statement by his media office on Thursday that having refused the offer, Jonathan was looking for ways to take him out either by killing him or getting him arrested based on trumped-up charges.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The former governor of Lagos State said the Peoples Democratic Party had never been this rattled in its 16 years of power.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He said Jonathan blamed him for the successful merger of the APC and the momentum the APC presidential candidate, Maj.Geneneral Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), was gaining in the current electioneering.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Tinubu said with the North-West and the South-West  - the two most populous geo-political zones - in the hands of the APC, it was certain that the PDP would lose.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The statement read, “With the election less than three weeks away and the outcome possibly against them, the Goodluck Jonathan Presidency and the hardliners in the PDP have embarked on a new strategy to put a brake on the momentum Buhari seems to be gathering.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“This strategy is novel and seems to be the outcome of a desperate calculation in that the PDP has shifted its attention from the APC in order to attack on multiple fronts the former governor of Lagos State and APC national leader, Bola Tinubu.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“From what can be gathered through informed sources, the PDP and Jonathan Presidency had recently tried to fracture the APC by offering Tinubu the position of Vice President in an interim government if he would agree to part company with the popular Buhari.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“Once Tinubu rebuffed the offer to participate in the interim scheme, the presidency decided to change tactics. It would no longer try to entice Tinubu with sugar but would now move to silence, and if necessary, neutralise him. The APC National leader has caused President Jonathan’s team countless headaches this campaign season, his declining the interim government offer is just the latest.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The Jonathan government sees Tinubu as the linchpin of the APC and its successful electoral strategy. They also consider him one of the government’s most prolific and able critics due to his long standing and often strident critiques of Jonathan government policies, from economic development to national security.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“More to the point, they blame him as the man who is most responsible for placing them in their current electoral quandary. They believe without Tinubu’s efforts, the successful merger of the political parties into the APC would not have occurred and they would not be facing possible defeat at the hands of this new party.”</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The former governor said the recent televised hate documentaries were part of the desperate attempt by Jonathan to discredit him.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He added that Jonathan might even accuse him of the murder of the PDP candidate, Mr. Funsho Williams, who was killed in 2006.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The statement added, “The agenda to tackle Bola Tinubu and weaken his political influence nationwide and to undermine his leadership in South Western politics can be said to have gone into the overdrive.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“The first part of the strategy is to dredge previously discredited claims of illicit wealth in hopes of silencing Tinubu or lessening his public image. However, they fear this public relations attack may be too soft as Tinubu has been taken before the ICPC and the case against him dismissed.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
“If this attack does not deter his party activities, the presidency and PDP are prepared to take more drastic action if they believe it is necessary to win the election by throwing the APC into disarray.”</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b><br /></b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>The Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, on Thursday, made it explicitly clear to President Goodluck Jonathan that neither him (Adetona) nor any other monarch in Ijebuland should be expected to campaign for Jonathan in respect of the rescheduled March 28 Presidential election.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Adetona said any monarch who took the path of seeking to persuade the people to go in one way or another over the forthcoming general elections which he described as being "full of tension", would surely bring "trouble" upon himself.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He advised the President Jonathan to sell his achievements and programmes to the Ijebus by himself, explaining that he had already told his subjects - whether Christians and Muslims, to act wisely and never to vote for corrupt politicians (<i>ojelus</i>).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Adetona said: "In Ijebu here, it is not possible for any Oba, not even in Ijebu, in Yorubaland, to go out and say vote for this, vote for that, that person is looking for trouble, but give them the opportunity to present their programme so that people can make up their minds on what to do.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I think this is a very sound democratic principle and that is what I have decided to do, to give you the opportunity of meeting with thepeople.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Once, they see you as a person, how beautiful you are, whether to engage with you or not, to listen to you and see if there are areas where we can meet, as a result, everybody congregating here, they belong to different groups.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"They are PDP member, APC member, APGA, they belong to various interests, and when they come, they get to the gate, and they shed their togas.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"In all our churches, after prayer, they pray for you, they will pray for the Governor, pray for me and all their leaders both in the mosque and churches as it is so required both in the Bible and also in the Qur’an.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"Each time I have course, occasionally to talk to our people, I have always told them, in the churches and mosques that when you are going to vote, make sure, you back your sons and daughter who will give something back to you, not the 'Ojelu'.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"But those who will be honest with you, who knows the way of God, those are the people you should vote for, not those who will give you two three spoons and mortgage your future, it is not right.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I am sure over the years, there has been improvement but this election is full of tension, I don’t know how it is so, why has elections never been like this, about 55 years, I have never seen any election that is full of tension and than the one we are having now, my prayer is God should guide us and make sure that there’s peace, harmony and tranquility in the country."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Also, the Dagburewe of Idowa-Ijebu, Oba Yinusa Adekoya, who spoke on behalf of the Ijebu Traditional Council (ITC), drew the attention of Jonathan to the life-saving Mobalufon flyover that runs across the Sagamu-Ore expressway at the Ijebu-Ode stretch of it and constructed by governor Ibikunle Amosun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Oba Adekoya said the Ijebus remained very grateful to Amosun for the intervention and urged the President to quickly "reimburse" the Governor of the cost of building the bridge so that the money could also be channelled to other worthwhile projects being executed in parts of the state by his administration.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
He also enlightened the President on the history of the Ijebu people in Ogun State, saying they have been around in their present location for more than 1,000 years with the Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, as the Supreme head.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to him, Ijebu has always been the land of peace and harmony and made up of people reputed for commerce and industry and which has also immeasurably contributed to the development of Nigeria.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Adekoya also reminded Jonathan of the moribund Iwopin Paper Mill, a federal government project in Ogun Waterside, the Olokola Free Trade Zone (OKFTZ), Olokola Deep Sea Port, their long standing clamour for an Ijebu state among others and urged the President to do something about them urgently.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Adekoya said: "Your Excellency, it is however germane on this epoch visit to make very few observations about the Federal presence in Ijebuland.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It is not very pleasant that Ijebus that over the years, the paper mill has not been completed for one reason or the other in order to provide jobs for the teaming population of unemployed youths roaming the streets."</div>
