<b>In what has been described as Nigerian military and para-military personnel inhumanity to 'bloody civilians', a young man who was alleged to have stolen some money from a female trader in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, was brutalized and dehumanized by some soldiers who happened to be at the scene of the incident.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The incident which has drawn lots of condemnation for the military men, according to photographs that have gone viral on the social media, happened when a young man was alleged to have bought a pair of boxer shorts from a woman at the rate of ₦500.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
As the story goes, immediately the woman put the money in her bag, like magic, all the money in the bag disappeared.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The woman reportedly held the man and raised an alarm that he used voodoo to steal all her money. As the brouhaha was going on, some soldiers passing by on a motorcycle decided to take the laws into their hands and descended on the hapless young man, with the intention to make him confess to the crime.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Despite his denials of wrong doing, the soldiers went ahead to torture him endlessly, stripping him naked and making him swim in the muddy waters of the gutters.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Is this the right way to dispense justice?</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>How on earth would a parent take another person's child to serve him or her as a servant and end up maltreating the kid? Why would parents give out their little ones to strangers to work as slaves?</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Those were the first questions that came to mind when I read the pathetic account of how a woman, a mother at that, maltreated and abused a 10-year-old girl she brought from the village to serve as her housemaid?</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Just read this pathetic account as sent to <a href="http://www.ladunliadinews.com/2015/01/10-year-old-girl-maltreated-abused-by.html#more">Ladun Liadi Blog</a> by a reader:</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">
<i>"Good day Ladun,<br />I am a constant reader and commenter on your blog. Kindly get in touch with child protection services, because I couldn't locate any of them online.<br />I live (edited for security reasons) in Lagos and I have a female neighbour who is a very wicked and heartless woman.<br />Presently, she has a house girl who is about 10 years old; this little girl does all the laundry in the house, takes care of the woman's 2 kids, cooks the meal and fill the big drum of water.. She awakes by 5am and doesn't sleep until it is past 12am and worst, she is ill-fed by this wicked woman, and the abused child's name is (edited).<br />The annoying thing is this little girl is the 4th girl that this woman has brought from her village to serve her; the previous little girls all ran back home because of her callousness and sheer wickedness towards them.<br />Last night, she beat the hell out of this little girl because of a trivial issue that happened in the house; she started beating her from 4am and didn't stop until past 6am, when I asked my wife to go confront her about this.<br />Please kindly get in touch with people who can take necessary actions against her, because I am scared that she would hurt this little girl badly or make her run away from home and then, something terribly might happen to her.<br />The wicked woman's name is (edited) and she lives in the boys quarter apartment of the address stated above.<br />I trust that with your publication, we will attract the attention of the people in authority.<br />Thank you."</i></blockquote>

Can people still be this wicked?</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<b>For residents of Ilaro, in Yewa South Local Government of Ogun State, the sight of a pregnant teenage girl simply identified as Ifeoma, whose age has been calculated between 16 and 17, is one that calls for concern.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
According to the <b><a href="http://www.punchng.com/metro-plus/unidentified-person-impregnates-dumps-17-year-old-in-ogun/">Punch Metro</a></b>, the young girl who has been living at a dump site for some months now, was allegedly impregnated by an unknown man and dumped in the town around May of 2014 and the kind hearted residents have been taking care of her till she was delivered of a baby girl on the 10 th of January, 2015.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Investigations by the paper reveal that <b>Ifeoma</b> had been beaten and impregnated before being dumped in the town, where she had been living beside a building on <b>Upper Leslie Road</b>, for over nine months at the mercy of the elements.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The teenager who exhibits sings of mental imbalance, with such tell-tale sings like smiling when there was no need for it, and throwing nothing in particular into her mouth, was said to have been dumped by the roundabout by an unidentified person.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
On the fateful day she was dumped at the spot, the residents recalled that her face was swollen, while marks were seen over her body.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Sitting by two bagful of used clothes given to her by <i>Good Samaritans</i> and another one full of plastic plates, Ifeoma was also incoherent while responding to some questions put to her by <i>Punch</i> reporters.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
A resident who has been one of her benefactors, <b>Beauty Saliu</b>, a graduate-apprentice in a bead store in front of the building where Ifeoma stays, spoke to the newsmen.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"It was sometime in June, when I returned from a trip, that I saw this girl by the roadside. Her face was swollen and she looked like someone that had been beaten up thoroughly. She was always outside there in the rain and in the sun. At night, she would retire to the side of the building and sleep there.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"After about three months, she began to exhibit symptoms of an expectant mother. She vomited and was sleeping endlessly.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I took her to the health centre here in Ilaro, and also took her to a laboratory and did a scan.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"She was indeed pregnant, and nobody knew how she was impregnated. I had to register her for ante-natal care and continue to pay all the bills.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
"I was the one doing everything for her. She came dressed only in knickers and a vest. I had to buy a new set of underwear and clothes for her.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
