Ondo State House of Assembly today served impeachment notice on the State Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi for alleged gross misconduct.
Some of the nine allegations levelled against him included financial misappropriation, absenteeism from official duties, allegedly causing political disaffection in the cabinet of the state government.
The impeachment notice was signed by 20 out of 26 members of the house while the majority leader Hon. Ifedayo Akinsoyinu from Ondo West Constituency II moved the motion and it was seconded by Hon. Yinka Banso from Akoko North West Constituency I
At a plenary sitting in Akure, the House presided over by the Speaker Rt. Hon. (Mrs) Jumoke Akindele said the action was in line with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended.
The Deputy Governor had on March 26 dumped the PDP for the APC and since then he had been at political battle with the State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko.
