Ex-President Obasanjo Pays Private Visit To President-Elect

President-elect, retired General Mohammadu Buhari, yesterday met with former president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo in Kaduna.

The meeting which lasted for several hours was said to have taken place at a private residence in Unguwar Rimi, Kaduna. Details were not available.

Buhari had been in Kaduna since last week where he received a number of visitors including the UN Secretary-General Representatives in West and Central Africa, Mohammed Ibn Chambas and Professor Abdoulaye Bathily respectively. They were with Buhari to discuss the Boko Haram insurgency. Other visitors were mostly party loyalists and friends.

About two weeks ago, Buhari met with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the presidential wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos.

Details of that meeting, which lasted for about an hourm were not made public.

Since his election as president on March 28, General Buhari has been meeting with various stakeholders, including top businessmen, politicians, religious leaders and diplomats from within and outside the country.
