<b>WASHINGTON DC, USA - President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday openly objected to Nigeria Central Bank Governor Godwin Emefiele letting Jim Ovia, the former Managing Director of Zenith Bank, into his dinner party.</b></div>

The event was organized for the President by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and The Corporate Council on Africa.</div>

During his remarks, Buhari departed from his prepared text to tell the surprised crowd he was surprised to see Mr. Ovia, and that he thought the CBN Governor had brought him along.  He also expressed surprise at the presence of Wale Tinubu, who happens to be a good friend of Buhari's All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu. </div>

The crowd, which mostly comprised of US businessmen, did not fully understand the heart of Buhari's position which wasn't part of his prepared speech for the evening.</div>

<b>ABEOKUTA, NIGERIA - Mojisola Dosunmu, the Director (Industrial Promotion) in the Ogun State Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has disclosed that seven factories, in addition to about 68 companies that have already opened shops across the state in the last four years, are ready for commissioning.</b></div>

She spoke against the backdrop of the state government's commitment to the promotion and development of industrial activities, which have provided economic platforms for the industrial extension services and training of micro, small and medium-scale enterprises.</div>

Dosunmu, who revealed that necessary infrastructure had been put in place at the three technical incubation centres across the state, said adequate information on basic raw materials available within the state were being exhibited at the State Raw Material's Display Centre at Oke-Mosan, State Government Secretariat in Abeokuta, for the benefits of would-be investors.</div>

"Presently, seven factories are ready for commissioning and this will further boost the state economy. I can also tell you that all our efforts have begun to yield great results as the state can boast of 68 companies facilitated by this administration in the last four years," she said.</div>

Meanwhile, Governor Ibikunle Amosun has said that a total of ₦534 million had been disbursed as loans in collaboration with Bank of Industry (BoI) to about 108 qualified societies in the agricultural, non-agricultural and small-scale businesses across the state.</div>

The governor, who was represented by Modupe Adekunle, state Head of Service, at the 2015 International Co-operative Day celebration held recently in Abeokuta, also said government had approved the release of ₦500,000 as annual subvention for the State Co-operative Federation Limited (OGSCOFED).</div>

While explaining that government took the steps to fight poverty, promote industrialisation and food security, the governor said "this administration embraces co-operative business model as a weapon to fight poverty, promote industrialisation and food security.</div>

He was so ruthless and stormed hostels in gestapo fashion arresting both yahoo boys and even innocent bystanders. The guy had no mercy. He even went as far as going after yahoo boys who fled from him to Malaysia and Dubai. No one could get away from him. </div>

As students leaders, we petitioned the police, EFCC and everyone asking about this guy and questioning his authority to harrass students. Next day, he called our phones and started threatening everybody. Till date, no one knew how he got the numbers. We responded by declaring him <i>persona non grata</i>, declared him wanted and placed a bounty on his head. Later heard he was arrested in Ibadan following our petition and later released and resumed his activities. Last I heard of him was 9 months ago. He made a shit load of money and is now an <i>omo onile </i>in Lagos before he was assasinated today. This guy was so crazy that girlfriends were informing on their boyfriends for him. Best friends on their friends.</div>

<b>ABUJA, NIGERIA - The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has concluded plans to commence the probe of the former President Goodluck Jonathan with investigations into the financial transactions of his ministers and aides.</b></div>

<b><a href="http://www.punchng.com/news/efcc-set-to-probe-jonathans-ministers-aides/">The PUNCH</a></b> learnt that the Chairman of the commission, Mr. Ibrahim Lamorde, had already directed that all petitions against former public officers at the federal level should be forwarded to him to be acted upon.</div>

Findings showed that former ministers, special advisers, heads of parastatals and those of other Federal Government agencies would be invited for interrogation by the EFCC in few weeks from now.</div>

Our correspondents learnt that the anti-graft agency would focus on those whose establishments attracted huge allocations from the Federal Government when Jonathan was in power.</div>

Such ministries and agencies, it was learnt, included defence, petroleum resources and power.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
Three top sources in the anti-graft agency confided in one of our correspondents that Lamorde was "determined to expose any corrupt act during the administration of the former President."</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

<div style="text-align: justify;">
One of the sources, who confided in one of our correspondents, explained that anti-graft operatives had yet to arrest any of the former ministers, special advisers and heads of agencies who served under the former President.</div>

The source said, “I am not aware of anybody who has been summoned or interrogated by the commission. Those to be interrogated would be determined by the gravity of the allegations against them as contained in the petitions.</div>

"What happened last week was that a directive was issued to move all petitions against public office holders under the former President to the office of the Chairman.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

"The files will be studied and assigned to units to handle the investigations. It is based on the petitions that people will be summoned.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">

"Most likely next week, action would be taken on those petitions…"</div>

But the Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwajaren, denied knowledge of such a directive when one of our correspondents contacted him on the telephone on Monday.</div>

"I am not aware of the directive you are talking about. It is not to my knowledge," the agency's spokesman said.</div>

Reacting to the development, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, said the party was not afraid of a probe.</div>

According to him, the party and former President Goodluck Jonathan have nothing to hide, saying all the party is asking for is that any probe must be within the ambit of the law.</div>

Jalo said the PDP as a political party discharged its duty of providing leadership for Nigeria for 16 years and that it did so transparently.</div>

He said: "I am sure Nigerians still remember that it was because of PDP's desire to deal with the scourge of corruption that our government under the leadership of President Olusegun Obasanjo established the EFCC and the ICPC. The records are there.</div>

"All we are asking for is that there must be fairness and justice, whatever probe they want to carry out must have respect for the rule of law, good conscience and the fear of God.</div>

"Such a probe must not be carried out based on vendetta or simply because somebody does not like the name or the face of somebody."</div>

Jalo also advised the All Progressives Congress-led administration to pay more attention to providing leadership to Nigeria, "rather than dissipating energy in the pursuit of trivialities."</div>
