A father was shocked when his twin teenage sons made an emotional video where they came out to tell him they were gay. The Los Angeles twin, Aaron and Austin Rhodes, were in tears as they opened up to their father on their sexuality over the phone before posting the YouTube video online as well as filming their father's reaction.
According to an Australian online news channel, News.com.au, the boys said they were relieved to be able to open up to their father on their lifestyles, instead of him getting to know from outside sources.
In the video which has gone viral on the internet, the boys said they 'just wanted to tell their father' who they really were.
Aaron began the emotional expose thus:
"There’s some stuff coming out on YouTube soon and we just wanted to call and talk to you about it before.
"I don’t really know how else to put it but I’m gay, and um, Austin is too, and we just wanted to call and tell you."
Both boys then broke down in tears as their father tells them he’s fine with it, giving them his assurance of love and accepting them the way they are.
"It’s the way things are, you know. You grew up in a lot different generation to me. I just don’t really know what to say. You know I love you both, that’ll never change.
You gotta live your lives."
Since the video was uploaded a day ago, the clip has been viewed close to 1.5 million times.
The boys left a simple message along with the clip saying:
"With 2015 now here, we think it is time to finally just be ourselves. We hope by our actions today, you can finish watching this video feeling encouraged and inspired. Thank you for all the support. We love you."
