The Jagaban Borgu has once again hit President Goodluck Jonathan below the belt requesting him to resign because he couldn't handle the challenging task of governance. Bola Tinubu said Nigerians have got enough excuses on the failure of the Jonathan-led federal government to defend Nigeria.

Banji Aluko filed in this report for Nigerian Tribune from Benin, Edo State.

National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, on Friday asked President Goodluck Jonathan to resign from office because he has failed the nation and was not fit to rule Nigeria.

Tinubu made the call in Benin, Edo State, when he inaugurated the New Lagos constructed by the state government, saying, challenges of insecurity and the lack of services in the country were caused by the failure of the Federal Government to meet the aspirations of Nigerians.

He said, “a nation fails because of the leadership failures. If there is a good leader at the top, the nation will not fail because fish starts to get rotten from the head.

“No excuse for failure. Mr. President, we chose you to defend this country. Quit, resign, you can’t do it. Enough of excuses.”

The former Lagos State governor commended the host governor, Adams Oshiomhole, for what he described as his unrelenting efforts at developing Edo State.

He said Governor Oshiomhole symbolises the resolve of some leaders who have shown performance and courage and that the governor was more than qualified to rule the country.

Earlier, Oshiomhole explained that his administration was able to reposition Edo State’s infrastructure through a judicious application of revenue and less dependence on federal allocation.

He noted that his administration took a cue from the management of revenue in Lagos State by blocking revenue leakages, saving about ₦5 billion in the process.

“We have broken a couple of eggs in this state. Now, we have been able to deliver so much omelette in terms of roads, schools, rural electrification and hospitals.

“In constructing this road and expanding it to six lanes, the last two lanes were made of concrete, well reinforced with covered drains.

That is to ensure that the road does not fail and I hope that our people are able to notice that all the roads that we have constructed so far, none of them has failed,” Oshiomhole stated.
