The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday urged Nigerians to support it and its presidential candidates in the 2015 elections, saying the party would build a better tomorrow for them.
This is contained in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, in Abuja.
“In PDP, the focus remains to ensure that we continue to deliver on our promises and put the interests of Nigerians first in all our party decisions and policies of our government,” he said.
On the choice of Prof. Yemi Osibajo as running mate to All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, Metuh said that it was a confirmation that the party was a "personal project".
He expressed concern that if power shifted to APC, it would be controlled by the owner of the "project", adding that the country would be in a problem because the owner of the party was desperate to control political and economic power.
He alleged that a "cabal" in APC chose the running mate for Buhari and wondered why the retired general allowed such to happen.
Metuh cautioned that any political party that subjected its collective will to the whims of an individual was indeed not ready for leadership. (NAN)
