Actress, Bukky Wright, has lost her bid to contest for the House of Representatives on the platform of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, Ogun State chapter.
The actress lost to Joseph Sopade, a former aide of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who resigned to join the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
Ms. Wright and Mr. Sopade were vying for SDP ticket for the Abeokuta South Federal Constituency of Ogun State.
In a related development, the controversy surrounding the emergence of Gboyega Isiaka as the governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ogun State Chapter is now threatening to tear the party apart.
Barely 24 hours after the controversial primary which produced Mr. Isiaka, there has been a counter move by some party chieftains, relying on the national secretariat of the party directive which had earlier disassociated itself from the congress.
The development coupled with speculation that the mandate Mr. Isiaka is carrying about is fake has now pitched some leaders of the party against themselves, as sources informed of a plot to impose another candidate against, Isiaka.
In view of this, a number of youth from the Ogun West zone of the state where Mr. Isiaka is from have threatened to leave the PDP.
The protesting loyalists of Mr. Isiaka argued that since the creation of Ogun State 38 years ago, the zone has yet to produce a governor while the other two zones: Ogun Central and East have.
They declared that if their choice was deprived of the opportunity, they would be forced to move en-masse to the SDP.
