Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has assured members of the House of Representatives canvassing for Hakeem Femi Gbajabiamila Speakership that not only Kano State but all Northwestern states are one hundred percent in support of his candidature.
The Governor made this known when the team paid him a courtesy visit at Kano Government House on Sunday seeking his support, assuring further that APC leaders in the zone are behind him.
Ganduje said: "I know the Southwest is solely behind you, the Northwest where the highest number of voters is, is behind you. I am telling you this from the bottom of my heart," stressing that "we need people like you and your colleagues because we are entering into an era with serious challenges and we need a very serious legislator as Speaker of the House in order to cope with the challenges ahead of us."
Dr. Ganduje told the team that even the Grand Commander of Kwankwasiyya Movement in Nigeria, former Kano State Governor Rabi'u Kwankwaso and his followers are behind the candidature of Gbajabiamila in view of his experience, exposure and leadership potential.
He lamented that almost all the nation's institutions are collapsed and need surgery, stressing that there is need for experienced legislators to lead the lower chamber and work hand-in-hand with the Executive arm to put things back on the right track of progress.
In another development, Dr. Ganduje has described the reception organized by Masalaha Development Association in honour of the State Deputy Governor, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, as an honour to the state government.
Speaking during the reception held at Meena Conference Hall in Kano Municipal Area on Sunday, the governor said that Masalaha association has made a great contribution in transforming not only lives of their people but also their community. He thanked the former Military Governor of Anambra and Sokoto states in the 1990s, Group Captain Rufa'i Garba (rtd) for his foresight in forming the association.
In a Fecebook post by Ibrahim Dantiye, the DG (Media and Communications to the Governor of Kano State), the Deputy Governor, Prof. Hafiz thanked the organizers and Governor Ganduje for organizing and attending the event respectively, promising that he will serve the people of Kano selflessly.
Earlier, Col. Garba (rtd) said the reception was organized to honour their son who was elected number two citizen of the state as well as to present awards to him, his principal, Dr. Ganduje and the former state governor, Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
