Immediately after handing over power to the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on May 29, 2015, President Goodluck Jonathan will embark on a short break outside the shores of the country.

An insider in the Presidency who disclosed this added that Jonathan would, after the break, return to help rebuild the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

According to the source, Jonathan disclosed this during a closed-door meeting with members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) on Wednesday, adding that he will be travelling with members of his immediate family.

In the course of the meeting, Jonathan requested members of the PDP to put the recent electoral loss behind them, disclosing that even some of his close aides did not vote during the elections.

He expressed optimism that PDP would bounce back, adding that he would make the trip abroad with his family and return to politics, although not immediately.

The insider went on to reveal that the meeting was organised to address the current crisis within the PDP due to calls for the resignation of party chairman, Adamu Mu’azu and other members of the National Working Committee, NWC.

Some PDP chieftains have been blaming Mu’azu for the party’s electoral loss, with Ekiti State governor, Ayo Fayose, accusing him of sabotaging the party in favour of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
