Saudi Bombs Yemen Military Airbase, Police Academy

Saudi Arabia's fighter jets have bombarded a military airport in the Yemeni province of Lahij in the country's south.

According to media reports on Wednesday, the Saudi warplanes heavily bombarded the al-Anad airbase, a major airbase in Lahij province, destroying the runway of the airport and setting a number of Yemeni fighter jets ablaze.

The Saudi forces also fired at the al-Haradh district in the province of Hajjah, killing a Yemeni civilian and wounding a number of other people.

Reports also said that a number of people have been killed and injured in the Saudi air raids in the district of Kata'af in the north-western province of Sa'ada.

According to AL-BAWABA, the Saudi warplanes also bombarded Yemen's Police Academy in the southwestern province of Dhamar.

The Saudi fighter jets also dropped bombs on a residential area in the district of Khormakssar in the Yemeni province of Aden, in the south.

Meanwhile, Houthi rebels killed a number of militants belonging to Daesh in the districts of al-Mualla and Attawahi.

There were also reports that clashes erupted between forces loyal to the country's fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, and the Yemeni army in the district of Sharas in Aden. The Houthis also clashed with forces loyal to Hadi in the same district.

There has been no immediate report on the number of casualties or the extent of material damage in the clashes in Sharas.

Meanwhile Yemeni media reports said that Yemen's Houthi rebels targeted the village of al-Khobah on the Saudi border with Yemen, killing and injuring a number of people.

A large group of villagers have reportedly sought refuge in other villages in the area.

On Tuesday, the head of the Houthi politburo, Saleh Ali al-Sammad, praised the Yemeni nation’s strong resistance in the face of what he described as the Al Saud regime’s ongoing military aggression, stressing that Yemenis will give a befitting response to Riyadh.

Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 - without a UN mandate - in a bid to undermine the popular committees backed by the Houthis and to restore power to Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

On May 1, the World Health Organization said over 1,240 people lost their lives and 5,044 others were injured in Yemen from March 19 to April 27.
