Ogun Awards Reconstruction Of Atan-Agbara-Igbesa Roads

Ogun State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding signalling the award of reconstruction of 31.65km Agbara-Atan, Lusada-Igbesa and Lusada-Alapoti roads in Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area to a contractor.

The Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Arc. Olamilekan Adegbite who signed the contract on behalf of the State Government said the contract also included the construction of a grade separator at Lusada Junction.

Arc. Adegbite disclosed that Agbara-Atan and Lusada-Igbesa township roads would be reconstructed into four lanes while Lusada-Alapoti road would be in two lanes with a four lane carriage way grade separator at Lusada junction.

He said the need to reconstruct the projects arose because of the deplorable conditions of the roads and the need to upgrade the existing roads to 'Ogun Standard' infrastructural projects that will improve the living standard of the populace.

According to him, "the deplorable state of the roads necessitated the need to reconstruct them to provide free flow of traffic and improve the living conditions of the people around the area".

The Commissioner also said the road when completed will link the low density populated area of Agbara, Atan, Lusada, Alapoti towns with the Industrial Estate at Agbara and would also ensure reduction of travel time especially with the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) volume of 115,750 vehicles per day which is above the capacity of the roads presently.

As in all 'Ogun Standard' road projects, Arc. Adegbite said the roads would be constructed with high quality materials and would have furniture like pedestrian walk ways, drainage on both sides, median with street lights and crossing culverts at low points.

The contractors are expected to be mobilized to site as soon as possible while the roads are expected to be completed within 24 months.
