A former Commissioner of Works in Jigawa State and an associate of Governor Sule Lamido, Aminu Umar Sidi Yan’leman has said that he defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) because of lack of internal democracy in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Aminu Yan’leman who spoke to LEADERSHIP in Kano yesterday, said he has seen internal democracy in APC in Jigawa and across the nation, whereby primaries were conducted for all elective posts, including that of president.
“I have decided to defect to APC where there is internal democracy, unlike in PDP in Jigawa where only selected individuals were allowed to purchase interest forms from the party leadership in the state”, he said.
According to him, it is sad that a member representing his constituency, Malam-Madori/Kaugama has been at the National Assembly for 16 years, but has never raised a motion, yet he was given automatic ticket to rerun.
Yan’leman said that with his level of education and experience and above all, his loyalty to the party and Governor Lamido, he should be called upon to give his constituency a deserving representation in the National Assembly, adding that he vied for the position but was denied by the Jigawa PDP leadership.
He said that he and thousands of his followers all over Jigawa will not continue to be used, and called on all his supporters to vote PDP out of Jigawa government and all other elective posts including the presidency.
