Sad news, though, there are lessons to learn from it. This message is more important to those of us living outside our countries of nationality. I mean, those of us living overseas. Before you start sending your hard earned money home, you better read this story. I'm sure after reading this, most of us will decide to stop sending money or goods to our relations back home.

The story as culled from Chris Kehinde Nwandu's facebook timeline is about the gruesome murder of an Austria-based Nigerian lady in Benin, Edo State. The prime suspect in this heinous act is no other person than the deceased lady's supposed lover (I wish to call a hater rather than a lover).

Rose Aifuwa was based in Austria but travelled to Nigeria to celebrate the Christmas and new year after some years abroad. However, she never knew she was going to Nigeria to meet her untimely death.

Her decapitated body was found along Upper Mission Extension, Benin City, Edo State.

Upon his arrest by the police, her lover (names withheld) was reported to have confessed to the killing of Rose.

Sources close to the deceased said the supposed lover was owing Rose some amount of money running into millions of Naira probably from some business transactions involving the duo. Sources further said Rose had sent some motor spare parts to her lover to dispose and keep the proceeds for her until she came home. The lover seemed to have mismanaged the money and as such he is indebted to her. Rather than open up to her and confess his sins, the lover was said to have hatched a plan to kill the woman on her arrival to Nigeria because he knew she would not take it kindly with him if he should start telling her stories on how he mismanaged the funds.

If you ask me: who can one trust again? I will answer: myself. I can only trust myself and nobody else.

Don't lend friends money you can't afford to give them as a cash gift. And, don't trust too much if you must trust anyone other than yourself.
